PS...I really shouldn't have said "chronic problem".... oil return to the pan wasn't a problem at all in day- to-day normal passenger car driving.
High rpm use was another matter!

In a parts grab last year, I acquired a beautifully chrome plated Stude Avanti fan blade...It's an exact Avanti five blade steel 17" viscous fan blade..but chrome plated.
It appeared to be NOS or 'almost' NOS, and is installed on my '63 at present....
Has anyone ever came across a Stude Avanti fan like this?
Agreed..The two I was thinking of was, as you say, 1) the carb chamber, and 2) bringing much cooler air to the supercharger from outside the engine compartment.
The extra breathers would also be a benefit.
In a Paxton supercharger, clearance between impeller and scroll housing is controlled by.....
1) tapered shaft....2) different impellers.....or....3) shims

YOU'RE A SHARPIE NELSON!!
Yes..the two outer grooves on a Stude R1 Avanti's crank pulley and also it's water pump pulley, are never used in the factory R1 configuration.
( R1 a/c models have different setup)
The firewall mounted brake fluid reservoir used on '63-'64 GT Hawk's equipped with Avanti style disc brakes was first introduced as an option on Stude passenger cars in..
1) 1953....2) 1956....or.....3) 1961
