  2. There is absolutely no need for separate categories for the Avant R1 and Avanti R2-R5. It just creates confusion. While the R4 was a factory option, no R4 Avantis were factory built and the R5 was never a factory option. The 1963-1964 Avanti category worked well. "If it ain't broke don't fix it"
  3. Today
  4. Thanks Ron. I sent an inquiry to them for the specific installation photos.
  5. AOAI Forum Members 30 Gender:Male Location:Doylestown Pa. My Avanti:RQA0348 Posted August 26, 2022 I would like to solve the mystery involving this part. My name is Mike Phillips, and I am the creator of the spoiler / air dam in these pictures. In the 80's I owned an auto body shop and was a member of AOA, during that time I owned a '63 R1 and a '70 Avanti II. I designed and executed both the positive (plug) and negative mold to produce these parts which I still have. I would be glad to answer any further questions anyone may have.
  6. We appear to be nearing sub-forum overload. It is possible to have too many break-out sub categories. It's currently cumbersome to have to scroll through what we have. Perhaps a review of how many "hits" each current sub-forum is getting and then moving the less read ones to the bottom of the menu might be worth looking at.

    Paint issues

It’s just tough to see those blisters after all the work you did…. But your not alone with this one my friend!
  8. Well thank you Ron, but maybe not on this forum… Reason being, this forum’s R1 owners may feel a bit slighted!
  9. Thanks a lot! It is moister according to this service letter. Well, as the polyester will not rust, I might leave it like this. If I want to redo it, I should do it in the summer or use a decent heater. Lessons learned.
  10. It's a public Facebook group and I can add a R2 models to the forums if you'd like.
  11. I do not need another Avanti, but this one is a steal for the price it is being offered at.
  12. Leo, that's kinda what I'm doing, cheap clock quartz movement and running wires down to an A23 (12volt) battery by the fuse panel so it's easy to replace the battery every 12-24 months. Likewise for when I disconnect the 3EE it will still run. The main go-to place in the States does every old car's clock but the Avanti. Baa-humbug.
  13. I left mine unpainted and then added the “GT” type stripes to add to the contrast. Stripes are a wrap so if the next owner can remove them with a heat gun if they think them blasphemous! Mike
  14. Good deal for someone IF it starts and runs. 80k miles is not too bad. I'd be interested but I just bought my project 2 months ago.
  15. Photos have been added.
  16. I’m interested in the ‘Avanti R2 Models’ Forum… will this be a part of the AOAI Forum?
  17. You now have direct access to the Four AOAI Facebook Groups, AOAI Instagram Clubs and the SDC Forums. A new "Avanti R2 Models" Forum has been created and added for your participation. The original Avanti Car Club Instagram page is available to see it's photos but no longer an active page. A new one is on the horizon.
  18. Sounds interesting!…. The perfect frame & troughs puts a perspective purchaser way ahead.

  20. What happened to this product....very hard to chase down?
  21. My clock was fitted with a quartz. They cleaned whole clock and istelled new glass. Looks original and works on time and has own fuse. I also installed a 3 amp fuse (can be even less) in the battery, which I use to bypass the battery connection if I store the car for a longer period of time when the main power is off from battery. If I open the door, the interior light comes on and the 3A fuse doesn't blow yet, but it will if there is even a small short circuit or some unexpected power consumption. The clock is always running even if the main cable from the battery is disconnected. Speedy Cables in England. https://www.speedycables.com/
  22. Pictures?
  23. For sale is a 1963 R2 Avanti for restoration. A California car with a perfect frame and hog troughs, even the rear frame crossover tube is perfect. It is a very late round light car, serial R 4873B. It is equipped with the supercharged R2 engine, power shift automatic transmission, manual windows, power steering and 3.73 axle ratio. I have installed a new style front main lip type seal on the crank and a new water pump. The car also has R3 upper control arms. It has been off the road for some time and stored in a dry garage. However, the old dark brown repaint is shot and the interior needs work. High back front seats were installed and interior color changed to a complimentary brownish color to go with the exterior. Dash has one crack above the radio speaker but is very repairable. The supercharger is on the car and works fine. I also installed new white wall R205 75 15 tires. Brakes were bled and work(?) but included is a Turner disc brake upgrade still in boxes in the trunk. Price is $10750. I’m in Cincinnati, Ohio my phone is 5 one three two zero seven two 381. Leave a message.
  24. My memory is a little hazy now (and the back seat is back in place, so I can't really see it), but I think that is correct.
  25. check with Vintage Air: https://vintageair.com/pages/search/?query=knob
