  5. In the Morrison-Gottlieb survey which was sent to buyers of new Studebaker Avantis, over half of the respondents indicated they purchased the car because of Studebaker’s strong high performance image…..True?
  6. Can you get me the brand and specs on the evaporator coil that I see mounted behind the vertical console plate? Where to buy it, etc. I'm adding a/c to my 1964 R2 and have the compressor, drier, and condensor already mounted. I'm trying to retain the original heat/defrost system as-is. THANKS in advance, Andy
  7. You're working too hard. Just buy one of the 3 step kits and follow the instructions. I've used various brands over the past 40 years and they all have done the job and are still in operation. Should cost approx $100.00.
  8. Rare doesn't translate into more valuable. It's always been been about popularity, both at time of manufacture and now. Does '57 Chevy ring any bells? Coming from a classic car appraiser of 40 years.
  9. I am guessing this whole website was AI generated. Have no idea of the goal her but as mentioned, I would be weary of opening any links assoticade with this site.
  10. Check that…. The diameter of rear sway bar on the ‘85’s is larger…. I believe you need their part number 1702280. Front bar larger also
  11. Studebaker International 2024 Catalogue Page 262.... Shaft link Grommet Part No. 1554004 Requires 4 Rubber Bushing (for both standard Front and Rear Swaybars) 529392 Requires 2
  12. Which would I keep? The question is a form-vs-function question: the more beautiful one, the '53, versus the better driving one, the Avanti. For me, the '53. --Dwight
  13. Starline is almost done. Resto mod with 350 AT, Turner disc brakes, getting ready for AC. As nice as they come but not an Avanti.
  14. Extremely low mileage, (under 10K) refurbished after long term storage. Excellent car, well sorted. White, tan leather Recaro's. New from radiator to reconditioned gas tank. Excellent torque boxes and frame as you would expect on this low mileage car. Working Moonroof that seals tight. All options, sold new by West Palm Beach Rolls Royce Dealer. Paperwork from new. New repro Halibrands and Halibrand speinners from Dan Booth. New tires. Lots of videos and pictures. ECM removed by previous owner, now sporting small cam, performance intake and Holley carb. Selling to finish my 1953 Studebaker Starliner Hardtop. One of the two must go. I'd rather keep the Avanti and if it doesn't sell and the '53 gets done that will be the one to go down the road.
  15. How / where do you go to look at the out going PM's that you have sent? I can't figure it out. Help! Thanks John

  17. Out of a 1983. Leather generally very good. Missing seat release knobs. $1,000 for the pair plus shipping.
  18. Hello all, does anyone have a source for the rubber bushings for stabilizer bars from rear axle to frame?
  19. Last week
  20. Not yet. I've got a good laundry list of repairs and upgrades, but building a house and garage has kept me from getting to them. I did temporarily "fix" it with some weatherstrip cement.
  21. Probably not 😞 I'm in for this too, so did you succeed? I'm also wondering about the vent window front seal: Are left and right symetric or not?
  22. I’ve never driven my car in cold weather where I needed the rear window defroster. Not sure if it even works. I’m thinking the tint would be of more benefit. Mike
  23. With the Avantis huge rear window, tinting it makes good sense for some sun/heat deflection!
  24. Sorry, but I wouldn't let mine go for less than $55k, and am considering listing it for just over $60k. Ya got to understand that there are only 33 made in my year of '02', and similar production number for other years. That in itself sets these up for solid value (or profits) Then the convertible option in '02' brings production numbers down to 13 that year. So You can say what You will but if someone is trying to knock me down in price, my answer is "Go find another one!"
  25. I had a 63 30 years ago and pretty much knew Avantis (Studebaker) pretty well. Now a Chev-Vanti is a tad bit different in the wireing but I figuring it all out!

    Avanti Sales!

The problem with surveys is that it’s difficult, if not impossible, to get 100% participation.
  27. It is a low compression 305 v8- 155 horse engine.
  28. Here are the results to a question asked in a survey from MFG Body Company.
  29. Most newer master cylinder covers have a gasket with a built-in diaphragm or bellows. As the brake linings wear and fluid is pushed out to the cylinders, the diaphragm extends into the ullage space above the top of the fluid. This keeps a somewhat constant air volume and pressure above the fluid.
