    R3 Numbers!

Yes they do bolt right on the big bore engine. Hopefully we will see how that assembly goes in the near future. The engine is earmarked for a factory Super Package Commander.
  5. There should be a hole in the movable arm, and the mounting bracket. loosen the hold down bolts, and pit a drill or pin to line up the holes, then tighten the hold down bolts. That should in theory get you there.
  6. Looks really sharp, thanks of showing her off.

  8. I read about a national event called Mustang Week in January and submitted our Mustang based 06 Avanti to see if they were interested. They were and we took our car there at the end of April. It was among 1500 Mustangs of all years, some from as far away as Canada and Puerto Rico. Our car won an award while there, but the most important thing were the ideas that we came up with while looking at all of cars/vendors. I now have 4 new ongoing projects with the car because of this and the first was wheels/tires. Ford originally intended that the car come with 18" wheels per the door sticker, but Avanti Motors put 2004 17" x 9" Mustang Cobra SVT wheels on the car instead. After we decided on a wheel, and we looked at dozens, we bought "Xcess 5 Flake" chrome rims, 18" x 8.5". I then purchased Michelin Pilot Sport A/S tires and put 255/45 on the back and 245/40 on the front. The front tires are 1.25" inches shorter than the back and gives the car that "dropped" front end look. The speedometer is accurate when checked with a GPS and the car drives and handles extremely well. I put the original wheels/tires for sale on Facebook and sold them in 1 day. 3 more mods are coming soon.
  9. The switch is most likely bad. You can unplug it, connect an ohm meter to it and rotate it and see if the circuit works in every position (bad) or does work correctly. If it works correctly then someone has bypassed it or the wiring harness has a problem.
  10. It's the resolution, jpg must be 300 DPI for conversion. Standard 72 DPI isn't clear enough.
  11. Mine should work, used it for decals, clothing etc.
  12. Mark, that’s not the only thing we have to contend with in Washington State. A bill just passed that will require a speed limiting device be installed in the car of a habitual speeder. Not necessarily a bad idea but can you imagine having an “authorized shop” crawling around in your Avanti wiring in cameras and gps devices and some type of throttle control? Yikes. Drive responsibly! Mike
  13. Here is what you need... https://www.studebakerparts.com/studebakerparts/store/s/agora.cgi?page=avantipwsteering.html&fbclid=IwAR1IN9iSLLKBJTZCrO_Ywzctu9bdbxxP6B6Cmpvp-C8aVIJK-H4kmU1uVc4
  14. Is the switch possibly stuck internally? Hopefully, you can disconnect the switch, put an ohmmeter on it and work the shifter. Good luck.
  15. I am not sure I got the right part from Dan would you be able to send me a picture by any chance?

  17. Regarding the tires: Do you know how old they are? Not sure about tires sold in Europe but tires sold in the U.S. have a date code stamped on the side wall which is oriented inward -- i.e., crawl under the car to see the code. In U.S., a four digit code of 3217 will be the 32nd week of 2017, 4319 will be the 43rd week of 2019, etc. Good luck with the 'new' Avanti and come to the forums often; lots of good info and input from many longtime owners.
  18. Today I charged up the system , ran it for a few minutes and measured the outlet temps at 27 degrees at a fast idle. Success! Then I came in for lunch and remarked to my wife that things were going well...almost TOO well. And I was right. Went out later and started it again. Still cold inside, but went out to check engine temp and it was steaming from the water pump! Shut it down, tightened some loose radiator hose clamps, added lots of water, ran it again and so far things seem to be fine. Coolant will be added later today when a replacement lower radiator hose arrives. I've decided that to take advantage of full airflow, I'm going to bore a couple of 2.5" holes in the front of the carpeted kick pads on each side and put some retro vent balls in. 65 Mustang vents should work. d2843798-e910-427e-8110-465c03d724f1.mp4
  19. No, it did not work - they told me they need a real vector file not one created form a JPEG. Apparently, the quality of such a converted file ist not sufficient for printing
  20. Stefan, did the file work for the company that is making the car cover? Let me know how it turns out and maybe we can get a good price if others want the cover.

  22. Snake pit!
  23. If the hoses are reversed, the power would go in the opposite way, right? Getting the hoses right is mind blowing. My system next to the car:
  24. Good write-up, i'm considering doing the air by myself. This will help a lot!
  25. Many thanks to all who provided the info I need. Looks like I'll be drilling at least one hole as I'm off by a lousy half inch! 😵‍💫
  26. Studebaker international has them in thier catalog # 800203 5$ a pair
  27. If one were to buy the correct well nuts for an Avanti side mirror from a Studebaker or Avanti parts vendor, what would be the correct part number to order?
