When all else fails, what is an acceptable way to gain clearance between power steering ram and crankshaft pulley on both Studebaker & Chevrolet V8 powered Studebaker framed Avantis?
A rumor which circulated around the Avanti community several years ago was that when Studebaker shut down auto production in South Bend, there were …..?….. fully assembled R3/4 engines at Paxton Products ready to be shipped east.
1) 18….. 2) 37 …..3) 50….or…..4) 65
In 1972, Stu-V Products of California offered a NOS R4 dual quad intake setup, complete, including aluminum manifold, carbs, linkage, gaskets, fuel lines, etc., for ……?…….
1) $175…..2) $250…..3) $325….or…..4) $435
(Air cleaner assy not included))
The acceleration rate of the valves in a Studebaker Avanti R1 engine is …..?….. times greater than that of the lifters and pushrods.
1) 1 1/4…..2) 1 1/2…..3) 1 2/3….or …..4) Same rate
I’d make sure that the cylinder head casting numbers, which are located on top of the center exhaust port, are both the same….. Over the years I’ve seen a few Studebaker’s where a cylinder head has been swapped indiscriminately with another to replace a damaged original head…..which could result in a slight compression ratio difference…..If the casting numbers are the same, you’re good to go!
This is a very interesting label.. I’ve never seen it before.
It makes me wonder if, back in the day, reading it scared any perspective Avanti ll customers away???
If I remember correctly, didn’t the ‘87-‘91 model year Avantis have the deck lid weatherseal relocated to the body? (as opposed to being mounted on deck lid)
A better location I think!
