  1. On an automatic to stick shift conversion, it seems like many go to a hydraulic clutch release, either with a slave cylinder operating the clutch fork, or a hydraulic throw out bearing….. Original Stude Avanti & early Avanti ll mechanical clutch linkage, in stock form, should be avoided if at all possible… especially when installing a heavy duty pressure plate.
  2. What item found on Studebaker/Avanti V8 engines was commonly pirated by owners of hot rodded early Cadillac V8’s? P.S. HAPPY NEW YEAR !!!!

    Avanti Glass!

WHOOPS! (hopefully) she doesn’t read this forum!!!!!
  4. I was a bit surprised the statement was made by Egbert…. Although I considered he may have made it, I dismissed that thought, as Egbert has always been painted ‘all business’ and ‘non-emotional’…… Of course, I did not know the man, so all that is just speculation on my part!
  5. I don’t know the answer here… but I’m quite interested in finding out!
  6. You’re a ‘gent’ Murph!
  7. Ah-ha…Right car…. Wrong museum!!!!!!!!
  8. I’m guessing that custom moving dolly operated something like the rotisseries auto restorers use today to access all areas of a cars body… It must have securely fastened to that Avantis frame…. however…. NOT WITH MY AVANTI YOU DON’T!!!!
  9. Yes, that story is true…. It was for a Raymond Loewy tribute… A custom moving dolly was crafted by a local moving company which somehow put that Avanti ll on its side….apparently without damaging it… UNREAL!!!

    Avanti R5643!

Splitting hairs here, but the answer is actually FALSE…. Reportedly this Avanti has just under 6,500 miles on its odometer!
  14. We owned an ‘08 Toyota Corolla like that…. With the A/C running,it was frequently necessary to shift the automatic trans down a gear to stop the engine from laboring on hills.
  15. The last production Studebaker Avanti, serial R5643, has just under 5,000 miles on its odometer…..True?
  16. A Studebaker Avanti’s driver or passenger door window glass weighs approx….?….. lbs. 1) ten…..2) fifteen…..3) twenty…..or…4) twenty five
  17. It definitely reminds me of the original Studebaker Avanti steering wheel!

    Avanti Carbs!

That ‘200’ figure came from an ad Paxton Products (Granatellis) ran when they were selling off their remaining Studebaker parts inventory…. I’d bet 99% of those new Carter AFB carbs were types made for Stude Avanti R1, 2, 3, and 4 engines.

Yes Paul… even you!!!….and all my Stude buddies from the great State of Maine!
  21. I like the two spoke steering wheel… As you say, the three spoke types tend to block the gauges.
  22. Merry Christmas to all of my Avanti Forum friends!!
