    Avanti Antenna!

    No thoughts on this one?
  4. A 10” difference ? Are they Studebaker Avantis with AC 3330 factory radio antennas?
  5. Any other guesses here?

    1985 Avantis!

Correct answer is answer #2… Six vehicles…. If that doesn’t sit well with regnalbob, he should probably express his concerns to Mr. Cote…. Perhaps regnalbob can convince Mr Cote that seven 5 speed manual transmission 1985 Avantis were built…. Let us know how you make out regnalbob!

    1985 Avantis!

Sorry, I do not dabble in hearsay!
  8. Sorry, wrong answer!
  9. When fully extended, an original Stude Avanti antenna mast extends to approx …..?…… inches. 1) 14 3/4…..2) 15 1/2…..3) 16 1/2…. or…..4) 17 1/4
  10. Power radio antennas first became available on Avanti ll’s built in model year …..?….? 1) 1967…..2) 1968……3) 1969…..or…..4) 1970

    1985 Avantis!

According to Lou Cote, who along with Al Basile co-wrote the Avanti Authenticity Guide and Addendum, pegs the number of five speed manual 1985 Avantis at SIX…His 1985 Avanti, RQB 4240, is one of them!

    1985 Avantis!

The latest Avanti Magazine pegs the number of manual cars built in model year. ‘85 at answer #2… six!
  13. I ‘feel’ for my ‘63 (as I believe we all do for our cars) and taking quite a bit of weight off an already nose heavy front end… and off that fragile fiberglass apron…. seemed like a mod my Avanti would agree with… if it could ‘talk’ !!!!

    1985 Avantis!

Good thought… but three isn’t the number!

    1985 Avantis!

Nelson… I wondered if you meant 3 Avantis, or did you mean Answer #3?
  17. I hear you…. Not a big deal but Studebaker installed a plaque on dash with Ward’s name and brief explanation.
  18. Not unless there is an ‘open’ somewhere in the system…..Did you feel resistance in the pedal when you were bleeding system?
  19. Roger Ward received a new Avanti from Studebaker as a reward for winning the 1963 Indy 500……True?
  20. In model year 1985, Avanti Motors made …..?….. Avantis with manual transmissions. 1) three….2) six…..3) nine…..or…..4) twelve
  21. Folks that followed Indy racing in the 50’s and 60’s would be very familiar with Roger Ward… right up there with Foyt, Jones, Unser, or any of the other Indy 500 winners….. Also, Studebaker made a big deal out of rewarding Ward a new Avanti after his ‘62 win… which is quite a story in itself!
  22. I took a different path on my ‘63…. I relocated a group 24 battery to the trunk, then re- installed the 3EE (gutted) in the engine compartment complete with a couple of bogus battery cables… My 3EE weighs about 2 pounds now!
  23. All I can say is FANTASTIC…. really fantastic!!!!!!!
  24. Like all other Studebaker passenger cars of the era (and before) Studebaker Avantis have a small paper tag glued to the bottom of the glove box which indicates the vehicles original factory color… and color code…… Unfortunately, many of these small paper color tags are missing, having fallen off, as the glue holding them upside down on glove box tends to dry out, losing its ‘stickiness’ .
  25. Looks like a winner to me… Like you say, unless the battery MUST be a 3EE for show purposes, this is a great way to go!
