  2. It's the resolution, jpg must be 300 DPI for conversion. Standard 72 DPI isn't clear enough.
  3. Mine should work, used it for decals, clothing etc.
  4. Mark, that’s not the only thing we have to contend with in Washington State. A bill just passed that will require a speed limiting device be installed in the car of a habitual speeder. Not necessarily a bad idea but can you imagine having an “authorized shop” crawling around in your Avanti wiring in cameras and gps devices and some type of throttle control? Yikes. Drive responsibly! Mike

  6. Here is what you need... https://www.studebakerparts.com/studebakerparts/store/s/agora.cgi?page=avantipwsteering.html&fbclid=IwAR1IN9iSLLKBJTZCrO_Ywzctu9bdbxxP6B6Cmpvp-C8aVIJK-H4kmU1uVc4
  7. Is the switch possibly stuck internally? Hopefully, you can disconnect the switch, put an ohmmeter on it and work the shifter. Good luck.
  8. I am not sure I got the right part from Dan would you be able to send me a picture by any chance?
  9. Yesterday
  10. Regarding the tires: Do you know how old they are? Not sure about tires sold in Europe but tires sold in the U.S. have a date code stamped on the side wall which is oriented inward -- i.e., crawl under the car to see the code. In U.S., a four digit code of 3217 will be the 32nd week of 2017, 4319 will be the 43rd week of 2019, etc. Good luck with the 'new' Avanti and come to the forums often; lots of good info and input from many longtime owners.
  11. Today I charged up the system , ran it for a few minutes and measured the outlet temps at 27 degrees at a fast idle. Success! Then I came in for lunch and remarked to my wife that things were going well...almost TOO well. And I was right. Went out later and started it again. Still cold inside, but went out to check engine temp and it was steaming from the water pump! Shut it down, tightened some loose radiator hose clamps, added lots of water, ran it again and so far things seem to be fine. Coolant will be added later today when a replacement lower radiator hose arrives. I've decided that to take advantage of full airflow, I'm going to bore a couple of 2.5" holes in the front of the carpeted kick pads on each side and put some retro vent balls in. 65 Mustang vents should work. d2843798-e910-427e-8110-465c03d724f1.mp4
  12. No, it did not work - they told me they need a real vector file not one created form a JPEG. Apparently, the quality of such a converted file ist not sufficient for printing
  13. Stefan, did the file work for the company that is making the car cover? Let me know how it turns out and maybe we can get a good price if others want the cover.

  15. Snake pit!
  16. If the hoses are reversed, the power would go in the opposite way, right? Getting the hoses right is mind blowing. My system next to the car:
  17. Good write-up, i'm considering doing the air by myself. This will help a lot!
  18. Many thanks to all who provided the info I need. Looks like I'll be drilling at least one hole as I'm off by a lousy half inch! 😵‍💫
  19. Last week
  20. Studebaker international has them in thier catalog # 800203 5$ a pair
  21. If one were to buy the correct well nuts for an Avanti side mirror from a Studebaker or Avanti parts vendor, what would be the correct part number to order?
  22. "You may want to have a shop do the charging part if not experienced with it." Or take it to a state-licensed facility, if you live somewhere like Washington state, where it is now illegal to do any automotive air conditioning work unless it's done by a facility licensed by the state. In Washington the local auto parts stores can no longer sell cans of R134 or even do-it-yourself recharge / top-off kits, and it can't be shipped to residential addresses. We can buy it out of state and bring it back across the state line in a personal vehicle, but I'm sure that is also somehow illegal, and it's illegal to so the work in my driveway or inside my garage. Irritating. I have all the equipment to evacuate and service air conditioning, but I can't use it. What's really stupid, the national marketing office of a national chain auto parts store I frequent makes the local store put up posters advertising supplies to "get your air conditioning ready for summer", but the store can't sell any of it.
  23. I have a 72 with the solid sunroof. The motor hums then jams with no movement at all. Is the removal procedure the same as described above for the moonroof?
  24. The power steering is not working. When I got the car a week ago, the control valve was leaking and I replaced the seals with a kit that came with the car. No leaks now, but no power assist. Any ideas? Could the previous owner have reversed the hoses to the power piston? (Pump has fluid in it.) Would that cause my issue?
  25. The "special inserts" referred to above by Mark L, are called well nuts. They are rubber with a brass machine screw insert . When you tighten the screw, the well nut bulges preventing the well nut from coming out. Just like a nutsert. I've seen these well nuts at better stocked ACE Hardware stores.
  26. thank you! - then everything is as it should be with my car: speedometer in km/h and temperature gauge is Fahrenheit.
  27. Hallo Dwight, I checked but as far as I can see from the production order I do not have the optional fast steeering ... (if you detect any other interesting aspect on the production order, please let me know - the car was delivered to Italy in the 60s).
