  2. RQB3263/81/305 YES I DID THIS ABOUT 2 YEARS AGO SUCCESSFULLY ..... Edelbrock alum intake and Holly carb both from Summit....worked fine right out of the box .... be advised you may have hood clearance issues.... i was given a low profile 360 degree open air filter that extends down over the carb a bit to solve the problem.... these are prob available from Summit also ....use RTV and not the worm shaped gasket on the front and rear ends of the block to manifold mating surfaces.... good luck ....see ya on the Boulevard .... Bill in Florida
  3. Rqb 1898, My 72/73 400 cu. in, I'm looking to swap to a four barrel carb set up, any good recommendations?
  4. I used the 69 Caprice shoes, did work great but needed to drill out a hole in the shoe just a very small bit to slide them on ,no biggie, two minutes to modify..
  5. AFAIK NOS Strato Vue mirrors haven't been available for decades. The current reproductions are superior to the originals. So, the issue is the screw spacing of the repros, isn't it? --Dwight
  6. There is a small L bracket that is missing, it is part of the front window channel that you ordered from Dan.

  8. If you've purchased NOS Strato Vue outside mirrors, please let me know the screw spacing. I'm thinking of ordering left and right hand mirrors to replace my stock mirrors. The screw spacing on my car is 3.5 inches (center to center hole). Sure would be nice if the Strato Vues lined up with what I currently have.

  10. WOW!!! I was happy (so was the wood) when I attacked my dash w/ mineral oil and bee's wax but your efforts have me thinking....

  12. There is some kind of clip or something that the screw goes into per Dan Booth but you may be right I can send a picture but short of taking it fully apart right now it may be hard to see in any event. Dan Booth is sending me two new runners which is what I believe they’re called but he said they’re a headache to put in, but we’ll see. I’m not ruling out trying to glue it or hack some kind of repair if there are any ideas out there. Thank you again appreciate it.,
  13. The only important interchange issue, if you plan just a long block swap, is to make sure your replacement engine has pre-1987 (1970-1986) heads or replacement heads with this intake manifold bolt pattern AND drilled and tapped accessory attach holes in the ends of the heads. If you try to use earlier heads, TBI heads or Vortec heads, you will need to change the intake manifold and likely some of the accessory drive bracketry.

  15. You can swap out the 305 for a 350 without any problem. If you want to keep the 83 carb/distributor and computer system, then that will work also, with the exception of having to rejet the carb for the 350. The 350 also would need 350 exhaust manifolds since the ports and exit port are larger. You would need to have a muffler shop replace the flange that connects the exhaust pipe to each manifold with larger ones to match the 350 exhaust manifold. The good thing is you'll have a lot more power once you are done, and the value of the car will go up as well.
  16. I was thinking that there was something similar to a L bracket that the screw went into and you could use that to attach the rivet to. Maybe we need to see a photo of the problem area?
  17. This last weekend I took RQB3616 out on the road to my Iron Chariots Car Show after being in storage for several months while I built a garage to house her and provide a weather proof location to be able to work on her year round. Everything went well until a knock from deep within the engine appeared.... I was able to limp home via the back roads while purposely not getting much above 35/40mph. I need to empty the oil for sure as the dipstick shows a overfull oil pan (no water beads or fuel smell), pop the valve covers to see what I find, check compression, etc.. My true Gear Head friends have forewarned me that I will need a new engine. While I haven't reworked an engine in MANY years, I am not afraid to take it on but my gut also tells me that it may be a lost cause.... RQB3616 has a 305. The question is what do I need to consider in swapping out the original 305 for a 350? Will the 1983 engine electronics work on the new motor 305 or 350? Are the motor mounts the same? Etc.... Seeking any insight.
  18. I can't get the sheets to load. If you send me a personal message with your email address I'll send them that way.
  19. Have a set of wire wheel covers 15" these were in the trunk of an Avanti I recently purchased. They are in pretty decent shape, 2 have Avanti center logo 2 are missing logo, these are pretty heavy to ship, but I can deliver to the Avanti/ SDC meet in Pa. in September. Asking $250. Please PM any questions.
  20. It was available on one of the Avanti websites but I believe it's no longer active. If I still have a copy I'll post it...might take some time looking.
  21. Avanti Motors went to the 350 engine in 1970 with the start of the RQ-B series. The last few RQ-A models would still have used the 327. But...as already said...there could have been some unused until much later. The intake would likely have been what was standard on a Corvette of that year.
  22. My '66 has the 327/300 motor. The number on the intake manifold immediately behind the carburetor is 3872783; immediately under that is GM2. The number immediately in front of the distributor is J185. The carburetor is a Holley 4160. I don't believe the 327 was still manufactured in '78. GM was making the 350 by this time; perhaps Avanti Motors bought a bunch some years earlier and was still using them in '78 -- I don't know. The 327/300 had 2 'humps' on the front of the cylinder heads, one on each side; they were called 'Camel Hump' heads. Hope this helps. Good luck.
  23. Before I break anything, on my 89 coupe, how to remove the carpeted A/C box on pass side. I recently had car reupholstered/ recarpeted and potential screw locations are not visible. Where located and how many?
  24. That’s very interesting!
  25. What are the original carburetors and intake manifolds used on RQA 327 300hp engines? Height and ORIGINAL numbers are Important. Were Carters original equipment? How about a low profile intake manifold? I have seen Early RQA's with a Studebaker Avanti style air cleaner but don't know what carb its on (4 7/32 neck) ? Thanks RQA 217
  26. Gunslinger how does one get the rest of the spreadsheet?
  27. Thank you, I didn't it smelled fishy.
  28. I researched them earlier today - scammers. Hopefully you didn't buy anything.
