From the service letter.
"Locate and mark a spot on the outside of the windshield that is on the vertical centerline of the glass and 3 &1/2 inches down from the upper windshield weatherseal."

True.

In a 1963 model, was there ever a time when pleated seats were matched with flat door panels? Or, did the Regal pleated seats always come together with pleated door panels?
If you are referring to the Avanti on E-Bay the door panels should be pleated.

The ID number plate for 63R-2302 is shiny and bright, with none of the black stencil left.
Who sells a reproduction decal for this plate? I don't see it in the SI catalog.

Or have your brake booster rebuilt by Booster Dewey at Power Brake Booster Exchange, 4331 SE 63rd Ave, Portland, OR 97206
The three vendors that I listed in my post spend money to advertise in the Avanti Magazine.
I have never seen an ad for Booster Dewey.
As editor of the magazine you endorse a company that spends no money to advertise in the magazine.
Why?

No plans on changing the springs or suspension. Removal of the shims and re-radius of the front wheel arches should be the bulk of the change needed. Newman/Altman raised the body, added a shim under the springs, and added a filler to get the new stance, I just plan on reversing their changes.
If your frame is the same as this 1985 frame, you will need to shorten the front mounts and the cowl mounts. The cowl mount is 1 inch higher than a Studebaker Avanti.

I wonder if RQB 1516 still exists. That would be a good way to verify the cut-off/change.

I also used razor blades and it was easier than sanding or using paint remover. I used a small pair of needle nose vice grips to hold the blades. The angle was perfect and helped to prevent nicks. After two layers of primer and paint were removed I removed the remaining traces of factory primer by wet sanding with 320 for a smooth finish.

Anyone ever come up with a reason for the starting number to be 11?
Paxton numbers run from B-1 to B-117.
Also include B-153, B-299 and B-300.

At the top rear of the vent window frame is a small rubber covered piece, which has a small rivet (or two) keeping it in place. The part buffers the window from contacting the metal frame, at its up-most point. Obviously the rubber is thin and goes away... Is this part available? Any alternative?
thx
Part # 1328454 window stop.

On the SDC Forum website, I've been recording existing (and parted) 1955 Studebaker President Speedsters for about three years now....I began with a list of 183 cars, and just today that list has exceeded 300 examples!
I was wondering if anyone has thought about compiling a roster of existing Studebaker Avantis?...The AOAI Avanti Roster would be the basis of this list, but we all know there are many Studebaker Avantis which come up for sale on e-bay, craigslist, etc., which are not now listed, and NEVER HAVE been listed in any AOAI or SDC club rosters.
These un-recorded Avantis would need to be 'ferreted out' and entered over a period of time.....kind of like what I've been doing with the President Speedsters.
Anyone willing to manage a comprehensive Studebaker Avanti roster of this sort?
Available on Bob Johnstone's website. http://www.studebaker-info.org/

Dec 2014;
Adding the AOAI 1995 & 1996 Roster
- As of 19 April 2011, the Avanti 2011 Roster and my Database have been combined...
Note: The AOAI Roster for 2011 contains a fair amount of errors, in both ownership and email addresses.
The entire AOAI Roster was sifted through and compared against my existing records. Many emails went out and almost all were returned, as incorrect.I made the corrections that could be verified, but some conflicts could not be revised because there's no way to contact the owner.
Keep in mind, there are MANY owners who do not participate in this site or any other and do not support either, the AOAI or SDC.Oddly enough, there are also AOAI supporters who refuse to give their vehicle numbers. There are around 3500 records on this site and as you can guess, there are many more cars out there that aren't accounted for.
This database is now the largest compilation of information.
If you have anything to add to or enhance these records, it would be appreciated if you email it to me..
Thanks /

What's New????26 December 2014:
The AOAI 1995 & 1996 Rosters are being merged. Still some errors, but no one kept this current anyway! Still in all, it shows a decent provenance of many cars....
Additions and corrections are always welcome.....

What model year did Avanti Motors depart from using a continuous run of Serial Numbers that started with -0001 in 1965?
1970 model year started with RQA-0315.
1969 model year ended with RQA-0313.

In Nov.,1962 Avanti Gray became available as a standard color.
Avanti Black was only discontinued as a standard color and was available only on a special order basis.
Dealers were advised of production delays when ordering black.
Any orders for black before Feb.1,1963 were built at no extra charge and $35.50 for orders after that date.
Gray continued till the end of production.
