A normal factory windshield washer bag location cannot be utilized in Studebaker Avantis equipped with the R3 or the R4 engine due to interference between the bag and the extended crankcase breather pipe used on those engines......True?

    False.

Iinterestingly, although the 'Bonneville' Larks and GT Hawks all had the "STUDEBAKER" logo on their rear fenders, the 'Bonneville' Avantis did not.....True?

    False.

Although replacement Avanti exterior body panels were always readily available, a COMPLETE Avanti body shell could not be purchased from Studebaker.....True?

Interesting!....And it doesn't really surprise me that Studebaker Corp would go out of its way to please a Studebaker dealers request and/or special situation, but as far as selling a complete Avanti body to a private owner, well, I have a letter from Studebaker which pretty much says.....If you desire to buy a complete Avanti body shell, we strongly advise you to buy  a COMPLETE AVANTI!!!

The original question does not specify dealer or private owner, so the answer is false, a complete body could be purchased.

As I stated in my previous post how could Studebaker sell you a body in 1965 when they sold everything to Avanti Motors in 1964?

I guess we'll leave this one 'open'!...I won't dispute the photo you saw, but I inquired with Studebaker in 1965 about purchasing an Avanti body shell (complete with doors, hood, etc)....and the answer I got from them was NO!.....so I'd lean towards TRUE as the answer to this question.

The fact that Studebaker sold everything to Avanti Motors in 1964 may be the reason.

    Studebaker did sell complete bodies.

The Studebaker Zone Office in Allison Park, PA had a new Avanti (Avanti Gray) with very miles that was involved in a roll over accident. My Dad and I looked at it a few days after the accident.

It was sold to another dealer in Pittsburgh, PA and they installed a complete body.

  6. In a 1963 model, was there ever a time when pleated seats were matched with flat door panels? Or, did the Regal pleated seats always come together with pleated door panels?

If you are referring to the Avanti on E-Bay the door panels should be pleated.

  7. Or have your brake booster rebuilt by Booster Dewey at Power Brake Booster Exchange, 4331 SE 63rd Ave, Portland, OR 97206

    Phone: (503) 238-8882
He has rebuilt many brake boosters for Avantis.

The three vendors that I listed in my post spend money to advertise in the Avanti Magazine.

I have never seen an ad for Booster Dewey.

As editor of the magazine you endorse a company that spends no money to advertise in the magazine.

    Why?

  8. Anyone know where I can get a brake booster for a '66 Avanti II ? I am in Ottawa, Ont.

    Doug B.

Any of these vendors will be able to help you.

  9. No plans on changing the springs or suspension. Removal of the shims and re-radius of the front wheel arches should be the bulk of the change needed. Newman/Altman raised the body, added a shim under the springs, and added a filler to get the new stance, I just plan on reversing their changes.

If your frame is the same as this 1985 frame, you will need to shorten the front mounts and the cowl mounts. The cowl mount is 1 inch higher than a Studebaker Avanti.
