Isn't there a little light on the speedo underneath the "mph" lettering.

Hi, great! Thank you 1963 r2👍
I found the place. Seems that the light does not work. Will fix.

  2. I ordered earlier from SI same shorter ones by my mistake. Ordered again correct ones #533296 Didnt want to test how shorter ones will work.

From SI web: Part # 800907 "Fit all Models Needing more Eng/Hood Clearance."

  3. Does it matter. Mineral ATF or Synthetic for Paxton?
I have Valvoline ATF Synthetic (I think this is not suitable) and I have also Comma ATF AQF Automatic Transmission Fluid which is Type F and mineral and for older cars.
I have read many forums and some writes "dont use synthetic" and some wrotes
B&M trick shift -brand is best. Some wrote "use any type F".

I'd say the best way to replace this bearing is with another complete assembly, but perhaps a machine shop could remove your old bearing from the sliding collar and then press on the new Sl bearing?

Thanks mfg. This was very easy to do myself. All I needed was the right size socket and hammer. Heated new bearing in the oven and installed in the assembly.

  5. Thank you mfg. Now I understand more: There is a partno 1548810 which is a Clutch Release Bearing Assembly and then there is a Bearing which is National Bearings 1752.
The part I ordered from SI was Clutch Release Bearing Assembly (including Bearing) but I got only National Bearings 1752.

    I need to check this.

  6. I have Clutch Release Bearing partno 1548810. You can see it from Parts Catalog and in my photo. The parts has "flange" and spring.

I ordered same part 1548810 from SI and got National Bearings 1752. The bearing is just sealed bearing like you see in photo. I think that the Clutch Release Bearing I got is wrong. Still if I try to find Release Bearing for Studebaker Avanti 1963 from Ebay or web, they offer same as National Bearing 1752. I think that the part I need is one assembly part.
Is it possible change just bearing from original assembly part?

  7. When I saw the photo in Mike Foat's blog, I know where the problem is. In my shifter there is wrong spring + missing some parts. There have to be correct spring + housing + adjusting nut which does not allow the shaft to go thru all levers to the end reverse lever easy.
The spring has to work like "progressive" spring which allows shaft to move smoothly between 1-2 and 3-4 and stronger resistance to the end R.
Easy to see the whats missing if you look my previous photo and of course Parts Catalogue (pg 80).

  8. Hi! Im not good with T-10 Gearbox and need help. I think I have original 4-speed Gearbox which has letters T10-7B and T10B-1. The gearbox itself seems to work ok, but shifter not. Shifter goes reverse too easy and even possible to put 1 and R same time. Also the shifter seems to be very loose. The spring does not look original to me (even two ones and very loose) I see also that the retainer has been treated badly with screwdriver or something like that.
Where to get new shifter parts?
Is it even better to buy Hurst Shifter Kit or ...?

You need to get the final  production order from the Stude museum. The born report may not be the final configuration. For example, the final production order for R5408 added TT and rear seat belts. R4551 also has the annotation "99 Tag Las Vegas Driveaway". The authenticity manual has a photo of the event on page L-307.

Thank you 64studeavanti. Yes. I have authenticity manual and the AOI-magazine where Las Vegas Driveaway Avantis are listed including my #R4543

  10. When both wheels are rotating freely. Both do not turn in the same direction. The other wheel feels lazy or even turns in the opposite direction. Does this mean that the TT differential clutch friction plates are worn and need to be replaced?
