  1. Check plate 11-3 in the parts manual. 1107-33 is the reference. One end attaches to one of the caliper bolts. The other end is for the hose/pipe.
  2. I would guess 2) 1956 GH as it has Autolite distributor.
  3. The check ball also prevents fluid from exiting the bleeder screw. When tightened, the screw contacts the ball which in turn contacts the seat in the piston housing.
  4. It would make no sense to go on the input side. If that were the case, the brake fluid would effectively stop the flow into the pistons, meaning no brakes. It does go into the bleeder port. I believe the theory is that it helps prevent air from entering when bleeding the brakes.
  5. https://aoai.org/forums/topic/6453-sealed-r2-carb/ maybe not original
  6. I thought the R2 seal was the same as the Edelbrock marine carb seal.
  7. Go look at the 74. If it is what you want, buy it. You would still need to get your 71 running and safe in order to sell, so scale way back on the repairs.
  8. According to the production data as complied by the Studebaker National Museum, there were 24 1963 Gray Avantis with Orange interior.
  9. Ordered some Avanti Gold in acrylic lacquer from TCP Global. Very close match to some of the original paint. They do offer it in urethane, both bc/cc and single stage.
  10. Do not know about grey, but black paint will show every imperfection, wave etc. You need to ensure that every surface is perfect. That is why Studebaker discontinued it early on. When it was offered again, there was an extra charge.
  11. Got it home yesterday. Missing carb and starter. I have an edelbrock I could use. I may have a spare starter. Dale said he would check the place it was stored as there are many parts of various cars left over. As I indicated in an earlier post, the valley cover is from an older engine with a road draft tube. Does anyone have the correct Avanti valley cover they can spare? It came with some new parts including most of the rubber as well as a new dash pad! I will also be in the market for some original wheels and covers. Let me know what you have. Thanks
  12. Went to the auction today, it was rescheduled from November 18th. Bought R5423 for $4520 including buyer premium and credit card fee. As near as I can tell, the hogs are intact (they have been sprayed with bedliner). I tested several areas with an ice pick. The 'A' pillars and window frame look great. The body is in very good condition with no evidence of wrecks. The frame is solid except for the brace under the spare tire well, an inexpensive fix. The paint is pretty bad and a non stock color, so will need a respray. Glass is good. Engine and transmission were supposedly rebuilt a while ago. Both will need disassembly and inspection before use. Quite a few of the missing parts are in boxes with the car. Will know more when I get a chance to do an inventory. So far, looks like a good buy. Thanks to Dale for bringing this to our attention.
  13. I have 63 round headlight Avanti R4551. It has the hood prop on the left side, the long battery, and no brace on the hood.
  14. The change after 4892 is likely relocating the support bracket from left to right.
  15. Often, the zerk is broken off when pivot is removed without removing the zerk first.
  16. True is correct. According to parts book: 3spd - 45 25/32" Auto - 46 9/32" 4spd - 51 29/32"
  17. Closer inspection indicates that you may have incorrect lifter cover. The one you are showing has a road draft tube. Not used on Avanti. If you like, I am willing to assess what you have. As I stated earlier, I live about an hour away, just south of Tampa.
  18. I have made many purchases. Bob is a great guy to do business with.
