  2. Extremely low mileage, (under 10K) refurbished after long term storage. Excellent car, well sorted. White, tan leather Recaro's. New from radiator to reconditioned gas tank. Excellent torque boxes and frame as you would expect on this low mileage car. Working Moonroof that seals tight. All options, sold new by West Palm Beach Rolls Royce Dealer. Paperwork from new. New repro Halibrands and Halibrand speinners from Dan Booth. New tires. Lots of videos and pictures. ECM removed by previous owner, now sporting small cam, performance intake and Holley carb. Selling to finish my 1953 Studebaker Starliner Hardtop. One of the two must go. I'd rather keep the Avanti and if it doesn't sell and the '53 gets done that will be the one to go down the road.
  3. How / where do you go to look at the out going PM's that you have sent? I can't figure it out. Help! Thanks John

  5. Out of a 1983. Leather generally very good. Missing seat release knobs. $1,000 for the pair plus shipping.
  6. Hello all, does anyone have a source for the rubber bushings for stabilizer bars from rear axle to frame?
  7. Last week
  8. Not yet. I've got a good laundry list of repairs and upgrades, but building a house and garage has kept me from getting to them. I did temporarily "fix" it with some weatherstrip cement.
  9. Probably not 😞 I'm in for this too, so did you succeed? I'm also wondering about the vent window front seal: Are left and right symetric or not?
  10. I’ve never driven my car in cold weather where I needed the rear window defroster. Not sure if it even works. I’m thinking the tint would be of more benefit. Mike
  11. With the Avantis huge rear window, tinting it makes good sense for some sun/heat deflection!
  12. Sorry, but I wouldn't let mine go for less than $55k, and am considering listing it for just over $60k. Ya got to understand that there are only 33 made in my year of '02', and similar production number for other years. That in itself sets these up for solid value (or profits) Then the convertible option in '02' brings production numbers down to 13 that year. So You can say what You will but if someone is trying to knock me down in price, my answer is "Go find another one!"
  13. I had a 63 30 years ago and pretty much knew Avantis (Studebaker) pretty well. Now a Chev-Vanti is a tad bit different in the wireing but I figuring it all out!

    Avanti Sales!

The problem with surveys is that it’s difficult, if not impossible, to get 100% participation.
  15. It is a low compression 305 v8- 155 horse engine.
  16. Here are the results to a question asked in a survey from MFG Body Company.
  17. Most newer master cylinder covers have a gasket with a built-in diaphragm or bellows. As the brake linings wear and fluid is pushed out to the cylinders, the diaphragm extends into the ullage space above the top of the fluid. This keeps a somewhat constant air volume and pressure above the fluid.
  18. I came to the conclusion that the lid/cover should not breathe. This way the liquid does not absorb moisture. Under and overpressure remain between the seal and the lid. A very small amount of air may leak between the cover and the screw.
  19. I believe that the 305 used in the Avantis were all L69 engines putting out 190 H.P. I do not know if AMC ever used the corvette L83 engine in an Avanti.
  20. Is the 1982 305 an L83 with 200 HP?
  21. AD stated above he was able to find a shop that would tint them with the window installed.

    Avanti Sales!

The survey actually indicated 1.75%… I decided to round it off!!
  23. Wow, that's what I want. Did they have to remove the glass to do it?
  24. There were 1389 Avantis built during the 1962 calendar year. 2% would be 27 sold in 1962.
  25. I am surprised that only ninety-some Avantis were sold in calendar year 1962 given that: 1) it was a new car, with all the excitement of a new car, and 2) the Avanti was introduced about mid-year 1962. That only 90-some Avantis were sold in 1962 speaks to the production difficulties Studebaker was having. So, the follow-on question might be how many Avantis were produced per month and then compare that to sales. Of course, that info is known and documented. --Dwight
  26. I like it!

    Avanti Sales!

    Sorry no Geoff…..See above.
  28. Please explain. How master cylinder and ventilation works in its cover? Edit: I understand that when the fluid level changes during use, there must be breathing in the fluid space of the master cylinder. As I understand it, that's why there are also holes (vents) in the gasket. How about the cover?
