Footer Posted Friday at 01:59 PM Author Report Posted Friday at 01:59 PM My 83 has no grille and I don’t see how one would be attached. Parts book isn’t much help. Looks like lots of options on materials. I’ve painted the air dam I got from Michael Phillips and was considering fabricating a grille as I was flopping around on the floor installing that. Mike

Mike If you mean how would you install the stainless steel factory grille, you would only need to utilize the factory mounting holes in the fiberglass, which should already be there……I’m pretty sure every ‘83 Avanti left the factory with that stainless steel grille. If your car has had bodywork and the mounting holes for the grille were not drilled, it would be easy to drill the required grille mounting holes in the fiberglass.
Footer Posted Saturday at 01:37 PM Author Report Posted Saturday at 01:37 PM No holes and no grille. 3 options - try and find a factory grille, build a grille, or leave it out.
Dwight FitzSimons Posted Saturday at 04:48 PM Report Posted Saturday at 04:48 PM (edited) I've always thought Avantis look better without a grille. But, to protect the radiator, some kind of near-invisible grille is needed. It should be flat black, of low restriction, and just in front of the radiator. I'll have to fashion one for my '63 project Avanti, which came to me without one. -- Dwight Edited Saturday at 04:49 PM by Dwight FitzSimons

Footer Posted 13 hours ago Author Report Posted 13 hours ago I agree with the black for the grille. Lots of options for materials out there.
mfg Posted 10 hours ago Report Posted 10 hours ago I used black window screening held in place with wire ties looped through factory unused holes in the radiator core support… Not too pretty, but basically invisible, and it does give good protection to the (now quite expensive) radiator core!
brad Posted 6 hours ago Report Posted 6 hours ago I did one Avanti that someone installed a 62 Lark grille directly in front of the radiator. It bolted to the core support, and was basically flush right in front of the radiator and offered good protection.
