  1. RQB3263/81/305 Good Morning Avanti folks I replaced my hood insulation with a product from "Aircraft Spruce and Specialty Co." super sound proof with sticky back adhesive 1/4" thick X 48" wide sold by the foot at $13.50....p/n 09-01244 .ph.770-487-2310.... the hood needs to be off and laid flat on at table. cleaned thoroughly......this being large sticky back can be tricky to install (make cardboard templates first).....but has worked well on RQB3263 for 5 years
  2. RQB3263/81/305 .... I HAD EITHER NATIONAL OR KING OF CARBS IN JACKSONVILLE, FL ( CANT REMEMBER WHICH) BUILD ME AN NON ELECTRONIC QJET.... ONE MINOR ADJ. AND I HAVENT TOUCHED IT IN 5 YRS OR MORE ... WORKS FINE ....SEE YOU IN INDY ..... BILL

  4. RQB3263/305 .... ATTACHED is a pic of an access panel I installed behind the left front wheel.... when removed (5 10x32 machine screws) is allows access to the steering box, rag joint and most important number 7 spark plug....this took less than 2 hrs and panel is .050 aluminum but just about any thickness above .032 will work fine..... see you all in Indy!!

  8. Good morning Steve and all Avanti folks...... HEADERS.... Installed a set of OEM factory GM headers on my hot rod a few years back.... they were tubular stainless steel !! from 75 to early 80s chevy trucks and of course a factory perfect fit.......I found them in a local salvage yard for $50...yes stainless steel for $50 bucks......salvage guys and hot rodders know about them..... might be tough to find but i feel worth the effort....I will post a pic if I can find it.... Bill RQB3263.....
  9. RQB3263 81/305....Two better pics....no cutting required...
  10. RQB3263 81/305...... i removed the cow catchers (and all bumpers) years ago and installed 2" round led amber park lights in the remaining cylinders... I also fabed fog light brackets that attach to the side of the cylinder..better pic available on req
  11. RQB3263 81/305....... YES not uncommon....nothing mechanical or supplies available in Gainesville, Fl..... its either Ocala or Jax...... well i have 2 pieces of 2' OD stainless tube left over...... I have cut and preped one piece and the other is about 6' long and will req a bit of massaging but is usable for our project...... Its free to whoever will pay the shipping ....If you want to go this route give me a call 386-466-6434 cell

  15. RQB3263 81/305 ......Others are aware of the differences in the tube size..... and as usual i am the last to figure it out....Stephen Cade is checking his stock here in Gainesville Fl.....maybe ill get lucky.....BILL
  16. RQB3263 81/305....i jumped into it this evening ...removal took about 40 min with help... seat bottom came right out....seat back has 2, 1/4 in bolts with nuts so req 2 people to remove...... back panel had 15 screws and came out easy and provided good access to connector hose..... as was described here mine was severely cracked and leaking..... remove the clamps.... remove 3 screws from filler spout next to the gas cap and pull it all out together........the rubber connector had to be split with razor knife to get it off........ and thats where i am now.....almost..... maybe someone could explain the fact that the tank neck is 2.040 dia and the spout is 2.260 dia......thats almost a 1/4 inch difference.... .220 inch diff to be exact on RQB3263.....im not comfortable pulling that much with a clamp...... suggestions please ..... and I will detail my fix here no matter what it is ......BILL RQB3263
  17. Thanks ....theirs my project for this weekend ....BILL RQB 3263
  18. That sounds like a better deal to me.... BILL NOW HOW DO I GET THE SEAT BACK out ....?

  20. One more pic..... reminder...The new mount plate is now bolted underneath the X member instead of sitting on top of it ....RQB3263
  21. The pics show the fabed mount (simple 1/4 in plate steel with part of the original mount bolted to it)sitting on top of the X member....it was later moved to under the X member to gain clearance for the speedo cable .... that also lowered the tail shaft about 1/2 inch etc to no effect....BILL RQB3263
  22. RQB3263 81/305 Whats left to be said.... I did this swap 4 yrs ago and was just one day of hard work with a strong friend.....my 700 has worked perfect ever since....i did re-tube the drive shaft but cant remember if I leightened it or shortened it ....(CRS)...the shift letters dont align up but I can count to 3 so its OK....the rear mount req mod ...pic attached ...a new speedo cable from Calif 6 inch longer perfect and no speedo error...im tacing 1700 at 65 MPH... no mods to the tunnel....BILL RQB3263
  23. RQB3263 81/305 AVANTI II.... I installed the quick arms about 2 yrs ago....2 hr job ....i used an air hammer (actually an aircraft rivet gun) to knock them loose. installed the new ones with anti-seze...yes they do make steering quicker....thats just geometry....but you will get used to it and not even feel the difference after a mile ....worth while.....have fun.....BILL IN FLORIDA
  24. RQB3263 81/305 First check the module out put....easy ....use a plastic handle screwdriver and check for spark at two or more spark plugs.... no spark its probably the module.....remove the old one and match it up......i did it many times a couple on roadside until i bought an OEM module and carry spares now.... see previous pic.....good luck.....BILL
  25. MY point exactly...... thanks....bill
