Do you know the difference between factory installed and dealer installed? All my information is related to factory installed.

The Transistorized Ignition (Transigniter) was a factory installed option on all 1964 R1 and R2 Studebaker models. For the Avanti it was item 196 and the suggested retail price was $74.00. $57.50 Dealer cost. 3 R1s and 6 R2s were factory equipped.

The full flow blocks started production in April, 1962.

I owned a 1964 Daytona R2 convertible and the supercharger was orange.

The list of 10 EX Avantis compiled by John Hull does not include EX2143. (63R-1006 The Terrible Turkey) EX2143 is the serial number of an engine listed on the roster of Studebaker & Avanti R3/R4/R5 powered cars.

Ian Fleming's Avanti was shipped to the U.K. on the American Chief.

The instructions are in the Avanti Workshop Manual.

It uses a special resistor, not the stock resistor. Also requires a new bracket for the resistor. The condenser is removed from the distributor. The stock coil is replaced with a Transigniter coil. The tachometer sending unit needs to be replaced. Did you try adjusting the plunger on the throttle kicker?
