Don't forget the little wood spacer blocks under the visors, and the upper front door panels screws. They prevent the screw from pulling in too far.

Sure, in fact R series Larks and Hawks used the 40 Amp Prestolite alternator as standard equipment.

There is a cover plate on the passenger side console under the carpet. You adjust it from inside.

It's too slippery, no don't do it. slideing the planetary balls will score them.

It's a definate possibility....I have seen Iron R4 manifolds in the flesh. This was around 1972 or so. Perhaps the same could be said of R3's but, I have not personally seen one in iron.

Sounds like the rear sprag is worn on the transmission, and locking up .

The differences I have seen, were the dot over the" i "on some reproduction scripts is poorly done. It looks kind of football shaped, whereas the originals were nice and round.

The resistor only comes into play on the low lighting setting. It can be bad and it won't effect the high setting at all.
When light bulbs get old, the tungsten of the filaments is burned off and lines the inside of the glass. Many times an old bulb will look almost black because of this.
I agree, replace the bulbs with new ones.

No, the R2 carb will work fine on an R1, but a R1 on an R2 engine will leak like a sieve and possibly ruin the floats.

False the "spare" tire well was originally considered to be lined and used as the gas tank.

sort of....floating in the piston, clamped in the rod......unless it is an R3 and up then it's shrunk in the rod. I like bushed rods with full floating , however you need pin locks in the pistons to run these. It's a good idea to use them on R3, or R4 engines too as I have seen where the pin worked loose from the rods and score the cylinder walls.

6+1 for the filter. True, however you could order larger ones and even swinging pickup oil strainers if you specified. I have seen some with, and some without the oil temperature sender.

No Borg and Beck style were used. Only the 56 J (and possibly some trucks) used the Long style like Fords with the little adjuster buttons.

You shouldn't have to have a vented cap, since the tank itself is vented.
-
Only if they are Disc brake equipped.

It has a larger front band too, and a Higher stall rpm torque converter.
-
No, it's for longer dwell, (coil saturation) and a hotter spark
-
True ML I believe.....or was it MS? I could go look, but it's too hot outside
-
False, it was Primco.

They are different so....false
-
True. and since it is below the level of the cylinder heads they had to utilize the surge tank to keep air out of the system.
-
No, it was larger. Also the supercharger pulley was smaller too.

No, they were fixed calipers. Thats why you must shim them centered over the rotor
