It didn't do catastrophic damage, as Greg Cone repaired the block. IIRC it was just the oil pan rail that was damaged.
I sent him a set of NOS Forged True pistons he was going to modify into R5 pistons (by angle milling them).

No, the Avanti, and Hawk/Lark blowers had different mounting holes and no holes drilled to mount on both types of brackets.
One could disassemble them and drill and tap the correct holes, but they didn't come that way. Other than that they were the same internally, and dimensionally.

The original shifters were Ansen shifters

yup, not a kotex joint though!

No, it was the side view mirrors. But this is more SI trivia than Avanti trivia

Bilsteins are good. Use shocks from a 70-81 Camaro. You will have to reuse the lower cross bar on the front shocks, or use heavy washers to hold the new shocks' shorter cross bar.

I have had very good luck with the non toxic citrus based strippers

I have a brand new wiring harness for the foot switch to the wiper switch, and an accompanying wiring diagram. $30 plus postage.
You will have to solder the new wires to the switch.

False, it was the only years they used a GM bolt pattern.

You forgot the two on the later door panels.

No, under the glove box.

Actually there are no brackets. The grille itself is attached directly to the fiberglass.

Yeah, that! But it sure makes it hard to change the belts!
-
They shimmed the body higher, and used a hood with no cross bracing.

Regular Studes were Enamel. Avanti's were Lacquer

Well, are you talking about the tie down hooks on the lower control arm shafts?
-
Well, there is a delete plate listed in the parts catalog! So, I'll gander a guess as to true, they were an option, just like every other thing!

There is no secret number on the Avanti rear crossmember

the lower nylon bushing

No, three bolts
