  1. Stacey The driving experience seems excellent but salted roads 2 days after it showed up are limiting my "road time". We are about to see a week of rain (removing the salt) and when it dries off. It's Time!! Condition is an 8 out of 10, but the tidbits limiting it from being better are minimal, A few paint touchups, a repaint of the front bumper and a few interior things will get her to a '9'. Now i got a problem... The Wife wants to claim this as Her Own!!! (aw crap). There will be a time of reckoning.
  2. I bought this 2002 on Sunday and am thrilled. It now sits with it's Mother ('63' R2) who has missed Her Child for 39 years. "Reunited and it feels so good!!!"
  3. Thanks Randy for the private messages.. It cleared up so many questions.
  4. Thanks Srss47. It WILL be cared for, for sure.....It was nice to reunite Mama (63) with Her long lost Daughter (02). 39 years she went without seeing Her Lil Girl. I've only been able to drive it once for a quick run. They brined (salted) the roads the next morning... Really waiting until that gets rained off before resuming the Adventure. That Girl is Uptight! Now finish that Jeep.
  5. Sale Completed. Thanks Srss47. I'm thrilled. Glad to have you and yours over for the night at the tiny home (above) for a stay., Your welcome any time.!!
  6. Avanti arrived tonight. Photos soon.
  7. Ischuc... (sorry for the misspelling prior) I found this side link from the links you gave me. https://auto.howstuffworks.com/10-automotive-companies-that-failed.htm
  8. Thanks Ischuc. I appreciate the verification on this. It helps me understand my upcoming purchase of a '02' model (coming in on Saturday). Interesting is the timeline ('97') and lack of compatibility, and yet they look so much alike. So I'm assuming again the first 3 are "prototypes" to the '01-06' models and even the Stang based unit. I'm now going to look over your links. Appreciate the info.
  9. Thats it? No comments or verification?
  10. Thanks MFG. Appreciate the look-see. This winter I'm going to work all the bugs out... Bout ready to get started,,, not a lot of em, but enough that it's going up on jackstands next week.
  11. So the three were from 2000 and they were the Prototypes for the 2001 - 2006.? Sounds right to me. Only difference that is obvious is the front bumper is recessed in further than the actual production vehicles..
  12. Thanks. Kodjo I'm quite pleased with Her. She needs very little and I'm ready to get on it, but sooo many other projects are in my way. Still It will be on the road in the Spring.
  13. Desert Driver in a different thread sorta answered the question I've had as to wether those 3 were Prototypes. If He is accurate, now I get it. Heres His post ....................... "Keep the faith"....great advice from Jim Bunting to loyal Avanti owners worldwide. It was great to hear the many stories from the man who produced AVX 1-3, and was the inspiration for 2001-2007 Avantis. Every single Avanti from 1963 on was so eye catching, that many groceries were dropped by those who saw one drive by. Congratulations, Mr Bunting. Mission accomplished!
  14. Thanks Gun. I took my info from a site....TheAvanti.com. Below is a Copy Paste from a section on their site. This still isn't answering what I was asking. Maybe I wasn't clear... What makes the 3 Avanti's (above) different than the production models listed below,. Are they prototypes? I might add, the 2002 has the LS based engine with 325 hp....It's due at my door on the 13th. ............................. 15. Ok, can someone please explain the difference between the AVX and my (soon to be delivered) 2002 Avanti (which was 1 of 77 that year) ? So what's different? These 3 above look very much like what I am purchasing. I do see a few changes but they are cosmetic... What about the actual driveline and platforms?
  16. It is but I bought it... Thanks Bro!
  17. One thing I'm seeing as a soon to be buyer (mine arrives on the 13th) that all models are quite similar. Yes there are minor changes and even a driveline change at the end of the run, but the reality is, they are all so similar it hardly matters. To base a possible purchase on the small stuff is (to me) nonsensical. Now I'm receiving a 2002, and to me, At first glance they all look the same. To someone who goes into various specifics, it to me is near nitpicking. Yes there are differences, but yes they are minimal. I might add, the newer the model the more confusing the repairs will be on them. Anything after 2003 gets computerized to the point I don't want to mess with them. But that's a personal opinion and I'm "old school'' when it comes to Wrenching.
  18. Ah Yes!!! I have a 2002 arriving on the 13th...Love these models. And then theres the ole standby Original...
  19. Stacy ...Yeah I'm thrilled. This "IS: a car to be ''Driven'' and taken to car shows along with my '63' R2. Srss47 has been a pleasurable person to deal with thru this process. I've invited Him and His friends down to stay in my Tiny Home rental when the car comes thru. My Wife sez "Ya gotta get rid of something". ''Yes Dear!!!'' ... so my 928 Porsche needs to go. I'm running out of barn stall space anyway so it'll happen in the Spring. Maybe sooner. She keeps me straight and on the narrow path (but don't tell her that or she'll get a big(ger) head).
  20. Srss47...Thanks for contacting me. It was a pleasurable conversation. Folks , It looks like I'll be the new owner of this Beautious Vehicle. We struck up a deal over the phone and are setting up a time to do the transfer. I'm sure excited to see this Baby in my Barn. Thanks Bro-Man! ...... Oh and Stacy... My Wife had a fit.. She's getting over it (I think)
