    Stude V8 Swap?

Point I was making is it being ''Natural" is not a way to describe it..Natural is back to a Chev SB. And I have to think the installation would fit but a lot of small stuff would need addressed.
  2. I thought that site was dead?

    Stude V8 Swap?

I question the ''Natural''. It's more like a confusion.

    Stude V8 Swap?

Good, because that was a real problem that I actually got stuck with. So why the question? Are You considering a 3rd swap?

    Stude V8 Swap?

Only issues I ever had was soft came on a 305. But if You've gone that far.. not a concern.

    Stude V8 Swap?

Wow... Impressive mileage MFG. I think You made a good choice, but many opted to go with the 350 for added power.
  7. So the numbers, are we referring to 63-64's, or all, including Avanti 2's?.

    Stude V8 Swap?

I have to say, that would be counter intuitive. The Chev SB engine comes in soooo many combinations whereas the Studie Avanti only had 2 options, and both based on the 289. To me, the Chev engine and its options are the superior choice.... to downgrade seems futile. to go. thru all the changes (motor mounts and multiple other changes) seems senseless. I say that and I currently own a stock '63' R2.... (but also a '02' model which is an LS1 based engine.)
  9. Agree, but it does play hard into the equation.
  10. Sorry, but I wouldn't let mine go for less than $55k, and am considering listing it for just over $60k. Ya got to understand that there are only 33 made in my year of '02', and similar production number for other years. That in itself sets these up for solid value (or profits) Then the convertible option in '02' brings production numbers down to 13 that year. So You can say what You will but if someone is trying to knock me down in price, my answer is "Go find another one!"
  11. Friend.. Ya got too much time on your hands... but the result is very good.
  12. likely bodyweight.
  13. I turned 70 last Summer. It hasn't effected my capabilities (Praise God), but it has played into the drive I have for "restoration projects". I just won't take them on any more. I have 5 Collector Cars in various states of condition. The 2 Avanti's and the 928 Porsche are near excellent, Just keeping tabs on those 3 are enough for me to keep up with, from a Mechanical Stance. I send most big repairs out to others, since I just don't have the desire to tackle the projects. With that reality, it means that I have to buy cheap since the repairs are part of the Purchase Equation, to determine if I will lose financially in the end game... I can't lose $$'s or I can't afford to own the Cars. It's a Profit Game for me, with the understanding I still have a Love for all things Automotive. As said, Your price point is spot on. I for the life of me, can't figure why the rarity in production numbers of a Avanti 2 doesn't play in to a higher value, considering my '63' R2, values in at around $40-45k....Sorry to hear, Yer selling off on Her, but best wishes on the sale. '' Be careful of Scammers.''
  14. Are you sure Ya wanna sell off that beauty? Gotta say, I hate to see a member sell off an old prized model. I'm in a similar situation with the Newer version, ''02' and a '63' R2. I still have issues with the '63' but when finished I doubt I could let it go. Both the New and Old have their separate qualities. and though I like the '02' Model better, it tends to be a techie headache, the engine is too far back in the compartment for easy maintenance. But... the '63' , most everything is accessible. Your pricing is spot on for a vehicle with the work done. Still will you recoup after considering all time spent?
  15. That's a very interesting aftermarket option, Ron. .... A good ''keeper''.
  16. Didn't think it would last long. Any good deal, ya need to jump on it before the next guy.
  17. So one day 3 weeks ago I went out to start My 63. R2. It was up on jackstands since I've been doing other things underneath. I hit the key.,..and it clicked. but the starter didn't throw out. After many tedious hours to get the starter out I bench tested the Starter with a 75amp blast... Still it wouldn't extend. Trying to find a replacement Prestolite starter turned into a near impossibility. Finally I was directed to a guy in Asheville NC who had a business of rebuilding Starters and Alternators (a rarity to find someone in that Business anymore). He determined it was just gummed up and cleaned it down. He then bench tested it in front of me...Good to go.. $50.oo... I was happy. I got it back in there car and "click!" Huh??? ...Ok, 6 months ago I had a new 3EE Battery that I installed... I took it out and had it tested... Near Dead. I had just charged it for 10 hours and nothing??? Now I'm frustrated,... no... I was Pissed Off... Being under warranty I had the Battery replaced (By the way, Diehard makes one) Try again... Battery in and "Click"... Now I'm not pissed anymore but stunned. Starter back out (now for the 4th time) and I noticed a little green corrosion on the cable from the solenoid to the starter. Ok, No More Fooling Around... I bought up what was needed to make a new cable AND a solenoid thinking I'm going to rebuild this entire circuit. ... First I installed a fresh cable . VROOM!!!! Y E S !!! Y'all..This was frustrating and since these are part time hours I've been at this for 3 weeks. I figure I had 20 hours sorting this out. Moral of the story??? "Even a Blind Squirrel will get an acorn now and then !" Sheesh!!!... Now I can continue doing the items on my list to get it on the road for the Spring.
  18. I bought a copy of this book...Avanti, The Complete Story!... and have mixed emotions on the factoids presented. Understand I own a '63' and an '02 model. Fist off, the '63' '64' models it was sparse on photos of the Production Models. A lot of Prototype Pix;s but lacking on the actual Production cars. The written info was good but could have gone further. Then the 2001-7 info was also a little lax. I was hoping for actual production numbers regarding the '02' model. They had one page (the last page) dedicated to those numbers but it was broken down into a 2001 category and then skipped to the 2004 model... No mention or understanding of what happened between these years. Seems 53 models were made between '01' and '04' but it's not broken down as to how many per year. Didn't anyone take a tally of what was made and when? Seems this would be common practice and actually essential to Us as Collectors. I'm interested in Your feedback on the yearly production numbers and overall take on the Writings of this book..
