I have turnet it around and around, up and down to find where to install Reinforcement. SI dont have quide how to install the part.
In the webshop is said "fits under fender well". I dont find the place.

thought we were discussing the body just behind the grille. Am I off track?
Hi 64studeavanti. You are not off track. My speed was too high.
I was thinking first about frame color under pumper / grill area and then my "research" went off the topic. 🤐😊 -
After few hours nice work I removed Radiator Frame. Its not possible to remove unless you lift the front end body at least on inch or cut a fiberglass piece and turn frame from other side like I did. This means that radiator frame has been installed before the body is finally attached to cars frame.
About the Radiator Frame.... All areas which where hidden where without paint. Areas which were seen in engine compartment, had same gray color than engine compartment. The original gray color was under black which was painted later in my car (I think). Radiator frame area below air intake was painted black. There was no grey color under black.
Conclution: Im quite sure that unpainted Radiator Frame has been installed before body and all visible areas painted (looks more like by hand) with same color than engine compartment and bottom part which is seen under air intake with black paint.
All fiberglass areas are Gray in my car and the car had never a grille. -
Also Studebaker Avanti Authenticity Manual (page B-74) is written: "Metal Frame that the radiator attaches is painted same colour as body color."
Hmmm... strange for me because I have black frame and does not look repainted.
I have Gray -63 and engine compartment is also Gray but not iridescent (metal) Gray. Basic Grey paint looks very original. Engine Compartment is now empty and easy to check everywhere. I will check radiator frame very close.
There is nothing else about Air Intake area in Authenticity Manual. -
I find from Chassis and Body Parts Catalogue (December 1963) Before serial #4892 where without Grille. Later the Grille was sold as a Grille Kit for older Avantis. Kit is part #1358783 page 52. Studebaker Avanti Authenticity, Manual Addendum Number One by Alana Basile. Page 48 is a advert picture about same part #1358783 Air Intake Grille and Order Form "Now Available to All Avanti Owners".

I think I got the answer. Thanks Dwight and Studegary. You had a good pictures and questions and these make me to think.
I drive mostly to local events. We have here every weekend somewhere event where all kind of historical cars and owners get together. Of course only in the summer and sometimes hundreds participants. How the car looks is very important 😎 Lot of magazine reporters and audience.
Beacause I have Gray -63 R2. I like when the Gray Ava looks "aggressive and reduced". With plain, black radials + race wheels like FIA-Wheels - the result will be my choise. Halibrand is also ok but not available. I have red (porno red:-))) original interior so will be nice to have something dark red detail in exterior. Lets see what I invent.
In this is photo a nice gray Avanti though this -63 has Bias Ply. Photo is by Tim Costello. I will send a photo next summer. -

I got the answer from Studebaker International. Quick Steering Arm is about 33mm shorter. From center the length will be about 170mm. Standard is about 203mm (in the photo)
Thanks to SI / Jim Lime. -
About Quick Steering Arms. How much shorter than standard?
I dont find from web.

Thank to you 🙂
Added one very important dimension. 119-120 mm in last picture. -

Hi, I have red there and there that Classic Magnum 500 15 x 7 Wheels might be suitable for Avanti -63.
Can somebody confirm that they works?
I need to be sure because I have to order wheels from long distance and pay freight and duties. Hard or even impossible to return.
If I dont buy Magnums it can be the wheel size to compare.https://vintagewheelsus.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=48_49&products_id=493

Hi, I think that Open Shroud is not original one. Like SI wrote in Catalogue: 1560614X1 1963-64 Avanti with open bottom for easier removal. 1560614 is like original.

Hi I found this info from older topic:
Studebaker International. Retainer Ring Part 1559789. This was added after #R4849.

Yes, didn't the earlier boot without the ring have an issue of the boot pulling out of the console?
I think thats the reason why the ring has been added. I have seen a list of upgradings but dont find now to check which serial numbers dont have this ring like mine shifter.

Thank you mfg. Hmmmm... I think I will invest new correct R2 Fuel Pump. Lets have a good one which I found from IS.
I quess that tube has been connected to Paxton with nipple tube fitting.
Has somebody a photo how the pipe has been connected to Fuel Pump?🤔
I need to make the pipe and connection because I dont find part from web. -
Thank you very much mfg, Gunslinger and Packard V8. This is big help. Now I understand more. 👍
I think I dont need the kicker. I dont have AC and/or automatic transmission which occasionally load idle. I will test after I have rebuilt the engine etc. Lets see.

1963 R2. Please help. I have Fuel Pump with a hole on the top. Engine was used without Paxton. I have rebuilt Paxton and need to restore engine back to R2.
- Where I find the pipe and hose? I think I need a niple also to Paxton for the hose/pipe. Didnt find from SI.
- As attached file you find my Fuel Pump. Is the top part broken? (Where the pipe goes.)

Hi Gunslinger, Seems you are right. I found two Topic about this:

Hmmm.. this R2 is also without Kicker. 5-speed. https://www.tradeuniquecars.com.au/readers-rides/1808/1963-studebaker-avanti-supercharged-r2-reader-ride
I guess that Kicker helps to give smooth rev change for automatic trans. Just a guess.
Main thing is that I dont have to worry about missing this part.

🤣 Now I understand why it was so difficult to find a place for the Batter Box Reinforcement. Maybe been there from the factory like SI (part seller) wrote. I have a crack in Battery Box but will fix that other way.
Thank you 1963r2. This was a big help👍 Have a nice new year!
