Thanks John, Then I wonder why they keep the product in their webshop. Even in a front page banner.
instead of speculating here in the forum, it would be good if someone would call and ask about the real situation.

Seems that this matter is ongoing in Avanti Owners Facebook

Yes, the concept is clear. The Volvo has the European solution though (or I miss read the drawing, could be).

I think it is like this:

With the expansion tank solution, the pressure valve sits on the tank, like with the Volvo. The tank holds pressure. I call it, just for reference, the European solution.

With the surge tank solution, the pressure valve sits in between the radiator and tank. The tank holds no pressure. This could be called the US solution.

Avanti Surge Tank is easy to understand this way: With surge tank the radiator is higher than engine and the coolant level is this way also ower engine (like vintage cars). One cap works as a pressure control cap and filling cap. This simple solution has just one problem: Needs unnecessary space between hood and engine.
PS. Owerflow catch tank is just a tank which collects owerflow liguid from surge tank or expansion tank and can be added afterwards = Radiator Overflow Kit. (Studebaker International)

I suffer from a leaking expansion tank. After the 3th time I'm done with it and looking for options.

Question about the "surge tank elimination kit" available from Studebaker vendors: This is not a expansion tank but an overflow catch tank, right? How does the engine cope with the expanding cooling fluid with this kit installed?

    Hope this explains.
Surge Tank Elimination Kit works like in... Volvo Amazon etc. Expansion Tank.

  5. Hi. Please help. I want to buy Halibrand Wheels 4 pcs. I think correct product is 15 x 7 Halibrand 7011 Retro. 15 x 10 might be a problem.

I found that Rodder Wheels sell those but I dont find a price. I have sent Contact Form about month ago asking price. They dont answer me. Seems that they dont sell that size anymore. Webshop shows "Sorry, this product cannot be purchased."
Are there others who sell same wheels?

  6. OK. If you want to save Paxton, then I suggest to keep it just a decoration. Adjust AFR to work correctly without charger. This way you will have clean engine (combustion chamber, pistons, valves, block etc) and better mileage and save engine and Paxton to future. In the photo you see how piston and valves looks when used without charger. One valve was leaking just because it was so dirty. (photos are from Golden Hawk piston and valve used with disconnected, broken supercharger).

My opinion is that if you drive with supercharger carburetor adjustment w/o charger the mixture is too rich and result is not acceptable. So... with or without Paxton. I recommend to speak with professional mechanic and ask about this idea.

  7. Air-Fuel Ratio? Would that be a problem? Is the adjusting same with Supercharger and without? I think not.
I'm quite sure that AFR is adjusted high (rich but correct to charger) when you use Charger and shutting down the charger you will have too rich adjusting. If you adjust AFR optimal without charger and using charger again you will have dangerous lean mixture.

  8. Hi you all,

The license plate you have shown was issued in 1963 at the DMV in Santa Ana , California. The decal for San Onofre Beach is in Orange County as well and not far from Santa Ana.

Hi Bob, Thank You. I found from map the address where first owner lived: xxxx Windsor PL, Santa Ana CA 92705. Car was in this address 1963 - 1974. Interesting to see the house and see a small piece of how the owners have lived. The cultural value of a car increases when it gets a story.👍

California plate number IIN-629 was issued in 1963, so that's good news -- you now know that the car lived in Calif from 1963 to 1974.  The early Calif stickers had a tendency to peel up around the edges, and many owners peeled them off before they put on a new sticker.  That would explain why there are no earlier stickers on those plates.  It still does not provide any info on where the car was living during 1974-89 (which was your original question!).  Someone with some old AOAI membership rosters may be able to find the car listed under another owner's name.  Good luck with your car.

    Thank You Skip! 👍😁

  11. Hi,
I bought last week Endoscope. Here you see some photos: Piston, valves, torque box and frame. Pistons and valves shows how rich the mixture has been. Torque box has surface rust. Frame rear has also surface rust. I will clean Torque Box and rear area of the Frame inside with phosphoric acid. Then paint both outside. Spray corrosion protection treatment inside torque box and frame. Spray transparet protection on the frame after the paint.
Torque Boxes are very clean outside and also the Frame.
Endoscope is very handy. Prices are not huge: from $ 40 - 120. Depends the quality you need. I have wifi version and I use IPhone.
