  1. Base price for 1963 & 1964 R-1 was $4445 and $4843.30 (with 4-speed) for the R-2 making a difference of $398.30. What am I missing in your original question?

Well, I think that you're adding the extra cost of the four speed trans. The advertised factory price of the 'supercharger' on a Stude Avanti (which, of course, meant R2 engine).....was what now sounds like a giveaway price of $210.00! (I realize that a powershift or four speed trans HAD to be ordered if a customer wanted the R2...but that wasn't the question)

  2. Can't be true as question is written because there were no 1954-55 Hawks - V-8 or otherwise. (Yeah, picky, I know :P, but what a difference an "and" can make)

That's OK,...... you're absolutely right...I should have written '54-'64 V8! This is the kind of info younger folks that don't know all that much about these cars need to hear.

  3. One major difference between the molds that were used to create Studebaker Avanti fiberglass body parts and the stamping dies used to create sheetmetal parts for other Studebakers, is that the fiberglass molds virtually last forever, while the tools to form the metal parts eventually wear out....True?

  4. Answer is TRUE! You may be right about this slogan being used in early seventies...I felt it applied to the early 'A' seris ll's. I do know that Nate Altman was still alive when this slogan was used. (He passed away in 1976, I believe)
