  1. Gunslinger is right with a 'NOPE'! But plwindish brings up a good point questioning if the Avanti hood ornament is one of the 'Pirates Buckles.' My feeling is that it's a bit of a stretch...but probably is.

  2. The codes are for 1963 and not 1964. There is no P-6337 in dealer fact books, only P-6333 for Avanti Gold in 1963.

For 1964 all paint codes started with P-64.

Gold is Gold . You cant count it as two different colors. The answer is seven.

    Gold P-6433

    Black P-6430

    White P-6431

    Turquoise P-6432

    Red P-6434

    Gray P-6435

    Maroon P-6436

These numbers had to be specified on the dealer order form.

No, there were two Studebaker 'Avanti Golds' (but not many folks know this) To confirm locate the period Ditzler (now PPG) paint manual. The 1963 'Avanti Gold' was carried over into 1964. The Ditzler paint mix code on this color was...21530. The newer 'Avanti Gold Poly', introduced for the '64 models, carried the Ditzler mix code....22480. Once again, not many folks realize this. Studebaker Avanti paint codes indeed are confusing....The first Avantis sold in the summer of '62 also carried the P-63 paint prefix.

  3. Since the II's were marketed as a hand built personal luxury car, I'm wondering how many were built without air conditioning. I've seen a lot of Avanti II's, but don't recall one without a.c. Nonworking a.c. yes, but none with the bare center console.

I'm sure most all had air....but no doubt it could be ordered 'off' the car.

  4. No warranty on just the R-3 or R-4 engine only, or no warranty on the entire vehicle?

No warranty on the R3-4 engine only...and Studebaker didn't want to hear about more than one 'defective' clutch either!

  5. Sure...I'll list all eight............Avanti Black, Avanti White, Avanti Turquoise, Avanti Gold, Avanti Red, Avanti Gray Poly, Avanti Maroon Poly, and Avanti Gold Poly- Studebaker code P-6337. (Not to be confused with 'Avanti Gold' Stude code P-6333

  6. The answer is actually False......For years 'Fel-Pro' complete overhaul gasket sets for the '51-'64 Studebaker car and truck V8 (and '57-'58 Packard) included the big R3 intake manifold gaskets....Don't ask me why....but they did!

  7. Not all engine gaskets will interchange between the R2 and the R3 Avanti engines. Having said that, 'R3 only' gaskets always had to be ordered individually......they were never found packed into a regular Studebaker V8 overhaul gasket set......True?
