That is an outstanding advertisement!...I still have the one I picked up at my local Studebaker dealer SOOO many years ago!
By the way, what does "Island In The Sun" refer to?
-
No guesses here?

Another outstanding issue! (issue #177)...I especially liked the write up and photos of last November's Muscle Car and Corvette Nationals show!
The show crew wore shirts replicating the '63 Studebaker/Granatelli Bonneville effort.....which was definitely a nice touch!
I'd love to eventually read 'in depth' stories (with MANY photos) of the #8 & #9 Bonneville Avantis, as well as the HRM '64 R3 Daytona road test car!!

Binders was common at that time, but I do not remember if Studebaker used that term.
You nailed it Gary....Studebaker called them 'Disc Binders'!

Actually Paul, I think that they did wet sand the other lines as part of the painting process...I'm not 100% sure, but for now I'll say....Answer...No!
My fault...I did mean wet sanding the primer...and I should have specified that!

This is also the case with the '87-'88 Avanti-Carlos. The Monte Carlo rear section was cut (not sure how much). How do I know / how did I find out? One day I went to a Trailer Hitch place and told them to put a Monte Carlo hitch on - they came back and advised me of the missing needed rear portion!

That's interesting Bill!

What MAJOR item in a Studebaker Avanti's brake system is a perfect interchange with the corresponding part in a '69 Dodge Daytona's brake system?

You certainly do have to remove some rear rail I just can't remember how much.
Now the question is whether 8 inches is to much or not. I will go with true but with no conviction.

Sounds like you've done this job before but, like me, a while ago!!
The answer here is FALSE, more like 4" have to be cut off of each rail!

In the small world of genuine R3-4 Studebaker engines, why are engines B-78 & B-92 a little more unique than the others?
-
A slogan used in an 'Avanti era' Studebaker advertisement was....Sun, Sea, & .............?
-
In order for the Lark convertible frame to accommodate an Avanti body, 8" had to be removed from each of the frame's rear rails.......True?

One part of the factory painting process for Studebaker Avantis was a thorough wet sanding. Was wet sanding unique to the Avantis, (as opposed to other Stude cars), due to the fiberglass body and the use of lacquer paint?

In an 'Avanti era' Studebaker ad, what was the SLANG term Studebaker called their Avanti's 'new' disc brakes?

Any thoughts on this question?

Gotta love AVANTIS!!

I will guess false.
I think the designers were after a clean look .

I agree on wanting the 'clean look',......... but the answer here is TRUE!

Here's another 'oldie'...any thoughts on this one?
