  1. I'd look for....#1...old (severe) collision damage that wasn't properly repaired!....#2...Rust (read that ROT) up over the rear axle and behind,..rust in the WHOLE frame actually! (expensive to fix!)...and #3..rust in the sub floor reinforcement boxes (commonly called 'hog troughs')..which are also a bit pricey to replace.

Long story short....To me, it's all about the condition of the body/frame....mechanical issues are a secondary concern and can be dealt with.....Good luck!...Ed

  2. ANSWER...An access hole can be cut into the fiberglass 'roof' of the glovebox compartment which REALLY CAN HELP!!

After the repair, the hole can be covered with a removable plate.

One has to stand on his head to see it!!

Probably true...because of the old building and old wood in the floor.   A fire hazard.

Actually, the answer here is FALSE!...How do I know?...I have an Avanti brochure, (1983), that shows a production worker wet sanding an Avanti body WHILE SMOKING A PIPE!

True.     The front fiberglass was raised to make clearance for the R3 airbox.  The slots that the front bumper brackets go through were elongated to adjust for the raised profile.

RIGHT!...That was the only reason, and that's what they did!

No is CORRECT! (I know someone who IS doing this...Why?...hopelessly rusted original bumpers, and access to  '84 front & rear composite types, complete with correct brackets!)
