  1. As you probably already know, All of the 'upper' linkage on Stude Avantis and four speed Avanti ll's was taken from the '61-'66 Lark models....This is interesting on your '71 ll, as all this 'upper' (or inside the car's body clutch linkage down to the frame bracket) should be the same as the Studes,...but the linkage attaching to the Chevrolet release arm must be different.

A '65 or '66 'Chevybaker' with V8 engine (or possibly even 6 cylinder engine) and three speed manual transmission would probably have the exact same clutch release linkage as in your four speed '71 Avanti.

A Stude Forum want ad may help you locate any missing small parts....there are quite a few Canadian Studebaker parts cars laying around....and many of them came with standard shift....Good luck!

  2. No, not really. Everyone has always relied on the original Stude manuals.....It's even difficult to come up with an Avanti ll wiring schematic....and that's too bad since there were major changes to the wiring systems between the two Avanti versions......Dan Booth at Nostalgic Motors may have something though.

  3. 299 and 304.5 CID. Most 299 via bored 289, one 299 via stroked 289.

    Therefore,

    two different displacements

    Three different bore/stroke combinations

This is the answer I was looking for....although the way I phrased this question could have been clearer....Answer......# 3!

  4. Disagree....although the early '57 GH air boxes had the 'plugs' you refer to, those plugs are not a screwed on cap as the R3 box utilized.

The 'hard plumbed as opposed to grommet' fuel line entrance is much more fundamental to the overall systems performance (IMHO)
