As you probably already know, All of the 'upper' linkage on Stude Avantis and four speed Avanti ll's was taken from the '61-'66 Lark models....This is interesting on your '71 ll, as all this 'upper' (or inside the car's body clutch linkage down to the frame bracket) should be the same as the Studes,...but the linkage attaching to the Chevrolet release arm must be different.
A '65 or '66 'Chevybaker' with V8 engine (or possibly even 6 cylinder engine) and three speed manual transmission would probably have the exact same clutch release linkage as in your four speed '71 Avanti.
A Stude Forum want ad may help you locate any missing small parts....there are quite a few Canadian Studebaker parts cars laying around....and many of them came with standard shift....Good luck!

No, not really. Everyone has always relied on the original Stude manuals.....It's even difficult to come up with an Avanti ll wiring schematic....and that's too bad since there were major changes to the wiring systems between the two Avanti versions......Dan Booth at Nostalgic Motors may have something though.

Correct Jack!....I doubt if any of those rare engines were ever 'stocked' in South Bend (excepting for the few shipped to SB for factory installs).........Answer....TRUE!
-
False. the '64 lark was the same, the '63 was different
Well done!!......Answer....FALSE!

299 and 304.5 CID. Most 299 via bored 289, one 299 via stroked 289.
Therefore,
two different displacements
Three different bore/stroke combinations
This is the answer I was looking for....although the way I phrased this question could have been clearer....Answer......# 3!

In the fall of 1963, speed records were set at Bonneville by how many R4 engined Studebakers?........ 1) one.....2) two....or.....3) three
-
Okay.....and are there any other thoughts on this?
-
The rare R3 and R4 engines were shipped directly from California when purchased by a customer.....True?
-
Point taken Jack, thanks, and I need to clarify this question.......How many different CUBIC INCH versions of Studebakers famous 'R3'......................................?
-
How many different versions of Studebakers famous 'R3' high performance engine were there?...........1) only one............2) two...........3) three.........4) five
-
The famous 'Due Cento' '63 Studebaker Avanti was painted solid Avanti Red...with graphics........True?
-
No thoughts on this one?

Exactly Gunslinger!....Answer to question....FALSE!

Any other thoughts on this one?

With the addition of custom frame brackets for the top of the stabilizer links, a Studebaker Avanti rear sway bar can be bolted onto a '53-'64 C/K (Hawk type) Studebaker....True?
-
In 1964, Studebaker offered a new inside rearview mirror mounting stem, that had a wider range of adjustment, for previously built Avanti models.....True
-
Power steering hoses from pump to control valve on a '63 Lark are the same as on a '63-64 Avanti, but those same hoses from a '64 Lark are different.....True?
-
Disagree....although the early '57 GH air boxes had the 'plugs' you refer to, those plugs are not a screwed on cap as the R3 box utilized.
The 'hard plumbed as opposed to grommet' fuel line entrance is much more fundamental to the overall systems performance (IMHO)
-
If they are rusty, it will take longer!
"Assuming everything is in good condition"...................!
-
Poor description on my part....I was referring to the outer headlamp chrome 'RIMS'....Sorry!
-
ANSWER......The '58 GH airbox is more like the Avanti R3 type than the '57.....Why?.......THe '57 box was 'hard plumbed', while the '58 box, like the R3 box, relied on grommets to seal the fuel line entrance!

The Disk brakes are a lot quicker !
Charlie RQB3921
And that says it all!............Answer....FALSE!
-
No thoughts here?

Assuming everything is in good condition, a disc brake pad change on a '64 Avanti takes about the same time as a front brake shoe change on a drum brake '64 GT Hawk.....True?
What kind of brakes are these

The rear brake assemblies on your '71 were used on '71-'85 Avantis, and a good cross at the parts counter is '78-'82 Chevy 1/2 ton pickup truck rears. (Brake shoes, wheel cylinders, hard ware kits)
