On the clock, it's red cellophane. On the radio, it's the red edge of the dial glass. All others it's due to red bulbs.

You're exactly 1/2 correct!....Can anyone else help Brad out here?

Maybe the lack of a filter to clean the lubricating oil was an issue with the DO (Direct Oiled) series blowers, and also the VR series used on Fords, that used the engine's oil for lubrication -- dirty engine oil would mean dirty oil going to the blower --  but I don't think the lack of a filter was a 'chronic defect' on the 'self contained' oil reservoir SN-60 Paxtons. So I'll say.........False.

r1lark says FALSE....Any other thoughts here?

I remember hearing this, but don't think it was T-Birds. By late '62 and '63, beating T-Birds wouldn't be much of a big deal. I'm going to say FALSE, because I think he was racing his friends in their Corvettes.

    Correct on all counts!!!....answer..FALSE!

I used to remove the dash endplate(s) and cut out what was hidden under it, leaving enough purchase for the fastening screws.  I know it was a great help on the driver side regarding the gauges.  I can't recall if the Pside was of any help...

This 'end plate' tip is a GOOD one!

  5. If a Studebaker Avanti horns work intermittently, the probable cause is?........1) faulty horns........2) dirty horn contact under steering wheel.........3) faulty horn relay.....or.....4) broken ground wire at steering 'rag' joint.

Cut a what?   why not just reach up under the dash.  The Pside pivot is pretty accessible.  It's the driver side that's  bear to get to..

Well, that concealed hole really can help! (ask me how I know!)

The outside pump was a tank mounted under the right fender with a 12V fuel pump (yes) moving the oil.  I have pics if you want to see one.   Interestingly, the Due Cento had the parking lights replaced with oil coolers for each of the superchargers

That's real interesting!!....And pics would be GREAT when you have time!....Thanks!

Well, to be honest I can never remember which way to do this, so I usually just try one way and see what happens figuring I have a 50-50 chance of being right! :)

    So we will use the same logic........I have a 50-50 shot. I'll say #2. (and if that's wrong, it's #1 :P  )

    And #2 is CORRECT!!.....

I know that for most cars, 1974 was the last year you could run leaded fuel in a car. Here in Kalifornia, 1975 was the first year for cat converters so you had to use unleaded fuel - so I'll say 1975.

Yes, WELL DONE!....1975 WAS the first year those fuel stickers were applied to Avantis!........(answer...FALSE!)

There were two different setups. One was the more common dipstick type you see, and the other utilized a pump that looked like a fuel pump mounted near a sump tank.

CORRECT!...In the Paxton kit, the oil pump is located inside the oil dipstick!...The 'outside pump' was a 'Granatelli thing' not released (I don't believe) to the general public!

False, the stock intake on an R4 won't clear without raising the body. Since NO R4 Avantis were built, you wouldn't know this.

Even with ultra low profile air cleaners they would hit hard in the back. I shimmed the body and made custom bumper brackets to make the one I Just finished fit.

Nope, I have to disagree with you on this one Brad...The R4 carb/intake setup WILL clear an Avanti's hood without raising the body! (although I don't know how to PROVE that).....By the way, NICE PICS!
