If you work with Meyer's, make sure you get price first. He was able to supply me with some rears, but since we did not discuss price ahead of time, I just about had a heart attack when I got the charge.

links are a good thing to post.

For some other ideas, here is a link for 81 Camaro. Should be similar for 81 Avanti. https://www.google.com/search?q=check+engine+light+ignition+switch+off+81+camaro&sca_esv=cc0212b912e0ef78&ei=3ql-afOrGfKekvQPiaCbUQ&oq=check+engine+light+ignition+switch+off+81&gs_lp=EhNtb2JpbGUtZ3dzLXdpei1zZXJwIiljaGVjayBlbmdpbmUgbGlnaHQgaWduaXRpb24gc3dpdGNoIG9mZiA4MSoCCAEyBRAhGKABMgUQIRigATIFECEYoAEyBRAhGKABMgUQIRigATIIEAAYgAQYogRIhSdQlgpYsBNwAXgBkAEAmAHcAaABnwSqAQUwLjIuMbgBAcgBAPgBAZgCBKACtQTCAgoQABiwAxjWBBhHwgIFECEYqwLCAgUQIRifBZgDAIgGAZAGCJIHBTEuMi4xoAexErIHBTAuMi4xuAeuBMIHBTAuMS4zyAcMgAgA&sclient=mobile-gws-wiz-serp#lfId=ChxjMe

I have seen alternator warning lights come on dimly after ignition switch is off if the diodes are bad. Could the alternator be wired into the check engine light?

Bob Ziff at Avanti parts and Restorations is showing new replacement pistons for $155 each. https://avantiparts.biz/cylinder-assembly-front-disk-brake/

If your caliper pistons are in good condition, why sleeve? It would make more sense just to rebuild by replacing the seals etc. Otherwise, the Cobalt replacement cylinders seem to be a good option. https://mossmotors.com/8777-2-cp-cobalt-brake-cylinder-axle-set?gclid=EAIaIQobChMIzaqmz_-s_wIVgZqGCh2kYwuqEAQYFSABEgJSg_D_BwE#829=2405?utm_source=feed&utm_medium=free&utm_campaign=shopping Sumitomo cylinders are over $250 each on parts geek. https://www.partsgeek.com/catalog/1963/jaguar/xke/brake/caliper_piston.html?brand=genuine The Turner brake conversion is another possibility allowing for relatively less expensive parts. Not sure what the Turner package consists of now, but when I purchased 20 years ago, Turners used Mustang rotors and GM calipers. Sleeving has gotten more expensive. Apple hydraulics now wants $135/cylinders for sleeve and $165 for rebuild. https://www.applehydraulicsonline.com/collections/dunlop/products/copy-of-jaguar-dunlop-caliper-cylinder-sleeved-and-rebuilt-1

Wimauma is about 20 miles south of Tampa.

Bill, This looks to be what you need. Don't know about condition, but it spins. Yours if you want it. I am in Wimauma.

Not sure aluminum is good material for exhaust manifolds. According to sources on the internet, pure Aluminum melts around 1200° with most alloys melting sooner. Exhaust manifolds can reach 1200° - 1800° under hard acceleration, extended high speed driving. Not much room for error.

Curious .. do You shoot for authenticity or modification?

Still working on R5408. Over the years, there have some modifications, done by P.O. and me. Minor things like wheels, tires, Turner brakes, shocks, alternator, etc. Fortunately things that are easily reversed. Currently bringing it as close to original specs as practical. Prepping it for acrylic lacquer paint, undoing the poor body repairs, and replacing non OEM parts. After all that, I will still have rebuilt engine with NOS Isky ST5 cam/lifters and .060 Silvolite pistons, Coker R670 radial tires, Willard look alike AGM battery, and other minor things I likely forgot. Since this will be essentially a new 60 year old car, this does beg the question of how original is the car when everything is redone, replaced? -
Summit has some that may be smaller and still look ok. https://www.summitracing.com/parts/svr-xrpt200?seid=srese1&gclid=EAIaIQobChMIt6mZ4_CEkgMV56taBR0JxhG5EAQYDCABEgJRhPD_BwE

IIRC, when I installed Turner's kit, the instructions said to grind off the high spot on the GM calipers.

Definitely an issue of some kind. I and several others have access, but most don't. Unusual low level of activity. My email to admin@forum.studebakerdriversclub.com did not go through.
-
I suppose this was in spite of your vast experience with web servers, PHP, cloud computing, and outstanding people skills.

Looks like it is back. New post by DTHolder @ 12:10 p.m.

I am not disparaging either of the forum admins. I appreciate all the hard work they do to keep the sites running. Just pointing out that most, if not all, forums have issues from time to time. Ed, you seem to have a serious issue with Clark @ the SDC forum. Perhaps instead of attacking, you could volunteer to help. I am still confused on why the SDC forum continues to work for me and, apparently, no one else. Perhaps it is because I never log out?

Just to remind everyone, the AOAI forum has had issues as well. One I experienced just last October. seems to be the nature of the beast.

Tried wife's iPhone 16. Can't get to forums. Main SDC page has forum unavailable message. Don't know if the message is new or left over from previous outage. Tried again from my S25, and it is still working!
-
I used the SDC forums contact page and sent email to webmaster. I don't understand why it is working for me and not others. I did notice that other than my 2 test posts, there is no activity since sometime around 6:00 p.m. EST yesterday.

I am confused. It has been working fine for me all morning.

Don't have any experience with hydro boost on Avanti, but did have it on Dodge Cummings 1 Ton and Airstream motorhome. Worked well for those larger, heavier vehicles. For those who don't know, hydro boost brakes are powered by the power steering pump, not engine vacuum.

Just curious, what time was the outage? I was able to access several times on the 31st.
