  2. While it's not a super charged engine, it seemed appropriate to keep the Studebaker - Granatelli engines in one group. I could just imagine the backlash if a main topic was created just for it.
  3. Any public forum or group should always have the availability of exchanging ideas for the betterment of the community. When those ideas come across as being an attack on a participant, the group content or the sponsors (AOAI) goal, then they should be communicated directly with the admin. As a member over the past few years, I've watched a few participants get into personal attacks over comments made about a topic. I've also seen others join in to the point that it became a thread of unprofessional conduct. This will no longer be allowed. The goal of adding new members is right at the top of AOAI's goals. It's extremely important as the existing members - Avanti owners age out. This may not align with each members concern and that's ok. It's still the direction that we are headed.
  4. Why is the R4 included in the “supercharged” category?

    Selling Avantis!

Yes!…I guess he favored locations in warmer climates.
  7. Lets take a stab at number 1, New York.
  8. My issue is limited barn space. I already have 3 vehicles (out of 7 collectibles) sitting outside and that goes against my grain.

    Discussion

Sorry to see discussion comments by forum members removed when they are respectful but counter to the opinion of the moderator who expresses a desire to add new members. As a group, we should consider being inclusive and encourage the free exchange of ideas and opinions in an effort to retain current members of the message forum.
  10. I hate to tell you but I’ve got you beat. I keep telling myself “I’m done” but it’s just hard to stop. I just enjoy these cars! This one should make someone a great project. It checks a lot of boxes for desirable Avantis.
  11. Adding more categories makes sense, to a point. I think the current number of categories covers it all and is about right. Like the Google search page, keeping it simple and straight forward is oftentimes the best approach. Thanks to those involved in managing this site. It's appreciated.
  12. Yes it is for the parking brake only. There is a momentary switch mounted on the parking brake shaft under the dash on my 1975 that may be the problem. Mine was broken and disconnected but after seven years of trying to figure it out, eureka! It finally works.
  13. The original flared fender design was removed for both cost and ease of production reasons.

  15. Attacking the direction of the AOAI Forums, Facebook, Instagram and the Website is not appropriate in any form. All of these public sites are to increase the presence of the Avanti Automobile, increase AOAI membership and encourage participation through knowledge. While posting mistakes are always a possibility, a simple message to the admin will see an immediate correction. Prior to this post, regnalbobs previous comment about the fact that there weren't any R4-R5 models made, motivated me to make a correction to the category name which now says: "1963-1964 Avanti Super Charged engines/models" This along with the new Facebook Group "Avanti Supercharged R2 Models" is a natural category that allows individuals who either own or want more information on the Super Charged Cars. R4-R5 engines should be included in this since they are related and an important part of the Avanti History. Now there have been a couple of comments made that the writer said another category isn't needed and the same for another Facebook Group. Yet is the past 36 hours, the new "AOAI Avanti Supercharged R2 Models" Facebook Group has grown faster than any of the other groups created so far. And then there was the photo contest. There were complaints about that, adding more to the menu was inconvenient and other bs. Yet we had a record month of New Forum Member Requests and over 4,000 image views of the photos. To make it more entertaining, I spent time contacting Jim at Studebaker International and asked him to sponsor the 3 prizes which he did immediately. And as it turned out, he was thrilled today to discover that Leo from Finland won first place since Leo was one of his best International Customers. When a new or any forum member wants to learn about the Avanti Automobile, whether it's here or on any of the 4 AOAI Facebook pages, on the upcoming new Instagram page and the eventual major overhaul of the AOAI website, there is no way they should read personal attacks between members or complaints about the formats being used. Removing comments that we consider derogatory and or removing a member after a written warning has been issued protects the direction of AOAI. If you have a suggestion on how to make this forum better for everyone, how to bring in more members, how to increase participation with AOAI, then please feel free to send me a message and Lew and I will look at it. Same goes for the website.
  16. For a new chapter of the AOAI to be established, one requirement is that the proposed new chapter have at least…..?..… founding members. 1) Six…..2) Seven….3) Eight…..or…..4) Ten
  17. If things had gone Steve Blake’s way, he intended to establish company stores in what he considered to be our nations three best luxury car markets….. Which of the following four cities was not on Steve Blake’s list? 1) New York City…..2) Los Angeles…..3) Houston…..or…..4) Miami
  18. That is accurate per The New York Times.
  19. I posted the following comment on the Announcements section and it was removed with no explanation. psdenno also posted a comment and it was removed. Are we no longer allowed to post our opinions? It is absolutely not necessary to have two separate categories for 1963-1964 Avanti R1 and 1963-1964 Avanti R2-R5. It just creates confusion. While the R4 was a factory option no R4 Avantis were factory built and the R5 was not a factory option. The original 1963-1964 Avanti category worked well. "If it ain't broke, don't fix it"
  20. Nelson.... Got 3 already.. I'm Done.

    Interesting Tidbit!

I heard that contract wasn’t put out for bid…. However, I’ve no idea if that info is accurate.
  22. Are they a pool company or somebody’s brother in law?
  23. The same J. J. Cafaro............ different subsidiary...
  24. Not getting into politics here!! However, I just heard that the ‘John Cafaro Company’ was hired last month to clean up the Reflecting Pool in front of the Washington Monument….(This job has turned into a minor disaster!) Is this the same Cafaro Company that produced some of the ‘89-‘91 AVANTI automobiles?? 🤔
  25. Not sure about that!…..I think the ‘original’ wheel cover blank would be stamped out first, then the Avanti ‘touches’ would be added to it…..Possibly added in one additional stamping.
