  2. Hi, I have replaced all the bushings and king pin bearings etc. In order to adjust the maximum caster, I have installed shims on the lower control arm at the rear and the upper one at the front. I thought that this way I would get the right angle at which I could get maximum rotations with the outer pin. While searching for articles on the subject, I found your old post today. You have apparently done the same steps as me.

How many degrees of caster did you get with your steps?

  4. Yes, this is normal for an Avanti.
  5. Good move!… just the tinted glass in the Avanti ll is worth $$$$$
  6. The engine compartment is a heat trap and a lot of that heat escapes down the tapered entrance to the transmission tunnel. I removed the dash and gutted my 63 for customization and while I was there, I installed barrier everywhere including all of the console.
  7. no engine or transmission in either. both have titles. I bought both for some parts for my project.
  8. Interesting… looks to be someone’s restoration project which went south… Body looks clean (at least the driver’s side).. and the (possibly solid) windshield posts may indicate a good frame and troughs…..a valuable source of parts if nothing else! The Avanti ll, located behind this ‘63, is also worth a look! I’d like to hear “the rest of the story” behind these two Avanti’s.
  9. It might make an interesting display parked next to a 100-point car. Otherwise, probably not worth the cost to relocate. Does it even have an engine? That’s quite a gap above the front tire. I’d put a value of zero on that one.
  10. Thank you all for the tips. I will follow up on them. I also am getting a lot of heat inside from the engine. I covered the floor and firewall with a heat barrier under the carpet and sealed all holes, yet it gets very hot inside when I drive. Is this normal for an Avanti? My 64 Hawk never had this problem.
  11. Ron. Your fortunate to even have a window sticker showing details (including paint color).. The only way I knew my paint color was from Your info (emerald green)., but as You state, the only way to match with paint fade and other issues over time is a ''scanner''.

  13. Hello I am trying to make contact with Raffi? Thanks
  14. In my continued search for the 2000s cars, I located the only 2 T-Top cars that were produced with the Diamond Pearl White colors. There is a 2001 in Dallas Tx with 45,000 miles on it and I met with the owner last year to see this beautiful car. Now, I have made contact with the second car, a 2002 model which is in Bakersfield CA. The owner, who is now an elderly female, wants to sell due to age. The car is in immaculate condition with 15,000 original miles. It has been garaged its entire life and covered in the garage. She does start the car once a month and takes it on a cruise around town just to keep everything working. She has not been proactive in selling the car, so I offered to help her with this as much as possible. She knows how rare the car is (9 T-Tops were made) and she believes the car is worth north of $50k. Serious potential buyers are welcome to contact me and I'll work on connecting you with her. Attached are what the car looks like.
  15. Colors were really a problem with the later models. My 2006 states "Furza Red" on the window sticker. We searched high a low and never found a Furza Red color code. Since you could pretty much select any color that you wanted, I'm guessing some of the color names were made up as they painted them. It's really not an issue since most all body shops today can match paint using a scanner. A local body shop did that for me when doing some paint work and supplied me with a quart of the paint and clear coat after the repair. The paint was a perfect match also.
  16. Seems there likely isn't an answer out there. There are a number of unanswered issues with these cars.
  17. I have a 67 Avanti II 4 speed. When I got the car it had an Edelbrock carb on it and a Holley in the trunk. I wanted to use the original air cleaner so I rebuilt the Holley and put it on. The Holley was a 4160 750 cfm dual feed double pumper- not the original carb. While researching for which carb it should have I came up with these Holley numbers for the 67 327/ 300HP engine. R3605A R3810A R3814A All are 4160 carbs. The 4160 has been made in many different CFM ratings and configurations I plan to put a 4160 600 CFM electric choke carb on the car. Steve

  19. The panel vinyl is supposed to wrap over the window edge and be glued down before window install.
  20. Don’t know about rebuilding an original but Crutchfield has retro radios. Mike https://www.crutchfield.com/shopsearch/retro_radio.html

    Black Paxton!

Seems to bear out my idea of period Paxton supercharger color somewhat dependent on which pallet they were unpacked from!!
  23. I owned a 1964 Daytona R2 convertible and the supercharger was orange.
  24. I am looking to convert my Avanti Radio to Bluetooth. Any recommendations on a radio guy?
