How many Avantis are still in existence?

Hi, I have a chance to purchase a ‘62. I am wondering if anyone has a rough idea as to how many Avantis are still in existence- in any condition. Thanks!

Roughly 8000-9000 Avantis were built.  I don’t know if anyone has a firm figure of survivors but I would think there’s a good 50% still around whether running or not.

There aren't any '62 Avantis.  All Studebaker Avantis are either '63 or '64 models.  The serial number of the first Studebaker Avanti was 63R-1001, and the numbers went up from there.  The "63" in the serial number is the model year.  It could be that the Avanti you are looking at is an early one sold in the Fall of 1962 and titled as a '62.

The Avanti Register on the internet gives a good account of surviving Avantis of all model years… however… I would think that there are MANY more unreported ones here and there in various conditions.
