Thanks for that..I remember having heard something at one point about manifold interchangeability, so that makes sense considering Cadillac's 2X4 and 3X2 setups vs Studebaker's

Still, it amazes me how similar the two engines were externally…. and pretty easy to understand how many rodders (back then) created Studillacs!!
mfg Posted January 3 Author Report Posted January 3 Time for a hint?…OK!….. Internal engine part!!!!!
Dwight FitzSimons Posted January 3 Report Posted January 3 The crankshaft and rods interchange (maybe with some massaging). --Dwight

Mark63Avanti Posted January 3 Report Posted January 3 If they're swiping it off the Avanti for an early Cadillac then the aluminum timing gear?
regnalbob Posted January 4 Report Posted January 4 They used the rocker arm assemblies so they could use solid lifters.

The Studebaker engineers had one up on their Cadillac counterparts by utilizing a timing gear as opposed to a chain…. However, that isn’t the part we are looking for here.

Solid valve lifters and stiffer valve springs, along with a performance camshaft, gave a much higher RPM range… As the early Cadillac V8 used hydraulic lifters and non- adjustable rocker arms, Caddy hot rodders were pleasantly surprised when they found Studebaker adjustable rocker arms would fit the Cadillac engine, allowing the use of solid valve lifters, and all the rest!
