  1. Dan Booth provided the correct information. He didn't ask the question, you did. The best part is that you don't even understand your own question. Now you are left grasping at straws.
  2. From the article Dan Booth states, "the antenna measures 16.5 inches above the rear quarter panel." That is the retracted length and not the fully extended length in the question. I have a factory installed antenna and it is 16.5 inches retracted and total length of the mast fully extended is 50.5 inches. My original answer to the question remains the same, none of the above.
  3. Could be the ground wires for the rear seat speaker.
  4. None of the above.
  5. The fact he co-wrote the Guide has no bearing on the question since it only covers 63-64 Avantis. What makes you think Lou Cote is correct at six and Dave Kinney is incorrect at seven? At the time the article was written Dave Kinney owned RQB 4202 with a factory 5- speed.
  6. This is from an article about the 1985 Avantis by Fred Fox in the July, 1996 issue of Turning Wheels. "According to David Kinney, personal friend of Stephan Blake, only seven Avantis were fitted with factory 5- speed transmissions."
  7. Avanti Black started in June, 1962. 63R-1013 is the first Black Avanti. 147 Black Avantis, 115 63s and 32 64s. In November, 1962 Avanti Gray replaced Avanti Black as a standard color and Black was furnished only on a special order basis. After February 1, 1963 there was a $35.50 extra charge for Avanti Black.

  9. Stefan B. AOAI Forum Members 1 Gender:Male Location:Vienna, Austria Interests:sporty oldtimers Hi Ed, I would like to ask you a question concerning a Speedster I am considering to buy. Sorry to jump in here in this discussion, I tried to send a direct message but that did not work. Would it be possible that you check if the car is in your lists and give me some info on it if it is? - also via personal message or e-mail (stefan.bergsmann@chello.at), whatever is best for you. The VIN is 7165903, Body No. 6H K7 1507 and Engine No. P 16935. As far as I know the car was owned by a Mr. Gene Upstill before it was sold to Europe ~2017. It would really be great if you could help me on that. As I am new in the Stude realm and am located in Europe, it is not so easy for me to find the right info and sources. Again apologies for jumping in and also for bringing this up here in the AOAI - I simply did not know how to contact you on a different way. Thank you & best wishes from Vienna, Stefan Vienna, Austria
