Yes, False.... and there was actually an order for a 10th R3 Avanti when the factory shutdown was announced in December 1963. There were a number of Avanti production orders in line for completion and the factory allowed the completion of 10 or 20 still on the production floor, ending at the last one, the 9th R3 now in the Crawford Museum.

It looks upside down... the Pretty sure that the flat side should face up. that slot in the top side I think is there to hold the spring catch in the access door. Mine is off now, but will check one of the others in the shop tomorrow.

No grommet is in the hole. There is a black plastic sleeve over the wire and the sleeve/wire combination fits fairly snug in the hole. Hopefully your YNZ harness should be correct and have a black plastic sleeve over the license plate wire at that point.

Looks much better!

Yes, that is the hole for the license plate light wire

I stayed out of this one

After you check the bulb, most likely the problem is in the mercury switch in line on the wiring, probably attached to a trunk hinge bolt. They are not rebuildible, but a good electronics supply store should have a new mercury switch.

I think the plunge ETM was written up in Hot Rod magazine in the past year or two. Used in the aircraft industry mostly, and can dissolve broken bolts without hurting or damaging the surrounding metal or threads. The magazine article mentioned a place in Los Angeles area that does the work, but don't remember. Probably somewhere here that does it too..... maybe at or near Boeing?

False.. Made by Borg.
Borg Instruments was founded more than 80 years ago by George Borg, who also created the Borg-Warner Corporation.

Thanks! I updated our forum software on the server to the latest version. Should be even quicker reponse, cleaner interface and hopefully easier to upload photos.
And MFG, I don't yet see an avatar image on your posts.

Avantis look better without the plate. I just keep the front plate under the seat or in the glovebox. Never been stopped or questioned by any law enforcement. If they should ask why no front plate, I'll just tell them that a location was not designed for the front license plate, and in the early '60s many states did not require them. But never was stopped or questioned.

I ordered the Authenticity Manual last week, as soon as I get it I will check out those pages.
Peddler, your book was mailed from Arizona on Saturday, so you should have it in a day or two.

True. The front fiberglass was raised to make clearance for the R3 airbox. The slots that the front bumper brackets go through were elongated to adjust for the raised profile.
