Oct 18th and sold for $152,500k. Amazing...Not only does this shift thinking on our Avanti's it sets a new pricing bar to reach. I'm not saying any untouched and stock Avanti will bring anywhere near this price, buit to me it shifts a good clean example to the upside ... I have a totally original example of a '63' R2 in very good condition with 89,000 miles on Her. It would now (to me) bring a sables price of around $45.000. In fact on this site, just below this listing is a R2 selling for in the $70.000's And I'm starting to see some going for the $50,000's price range. It's a GREAT TIME for Us Avanti Owners.

I assume that your Avanti II has the same Bendix power steering system as the original Studebaker Avanti. If otherwise, let me know. The OEM for that P.S. system is Bendix Corp, then (maybe now also) in South Bend, IN. Ford also used the Bendix system, altho the parts don't necessarily interchange. AFAIK, the only rebuilder of these systems is the Lares Corp in MN. I have to get two of these rebuilt myself. I have the rubber parts but not the stainless metal parts holding it to the car. Doen anyone has some to spare? I live in the Netherlands and would like to make my '69 like new again! Thanks!

Good day all. Was wondering if anyone knows who is the OEM for the Power steering Cylinder? I ordered a rebuild kit and also saw that i can get a rebuilt one but was wondering who made it. Was it a Studebaker Part only or does it cross-over to a Chevrolet part? Thanks.

Posted on SDC site as well. I am hanging the doors back on R5408. Can/should the lock washers be reused? If not, what is good substitute? The teeth seem to be OK and the dome appears intact.

Yes, there is. Years ago some Avanti owners swapped out their original seats for something else. Most people today try to return their cars to original. --Dwight

I have front seats from an early 63 in Elk. Drivers has usual wear, needs repair. Passenger seat in excellent condition, is there a market for them?After many years I’m ready to part with them.

Does your Avanti have A/C?… I’ve seen Avanti carpet sets that supply both types of console forward carpets.

I have the console forward pieces installed. Those must go somewhere else. But thank-you for the input.

The two upper curved carpets look like the console forward side pieces.

Jim made Studebaker Avantis ‘ jump through hoops’ at Bonneville… He will be truly missed.

I bought a carpet kit from Newark Carpet for my Avanti. The set fit perfectly. However I have four pieces left that I cannot find where they go. I need to still cover the kick panels and not of the leftover pieces fit there. If someone has used this kit before, I could use some help to find out where they go.

Whew!…. My simple on-off toggle switch, which controls converter lockup, was installed approx 15 years ago in my 700R4…. Have had no transmission problems whatsoever with an ‘83 Avanti used everyday—- summer and winter! Cost at the time… about $4.00

You can release trunk lock by opening hatch under rear window… reaching in with flashlight & long, flat screwdriver and rotating latch release pawl from backside.

Holy cow; what an impressive Avanti II !
