Gotcha. My '02' is a Studebaker by Avanti. Not much difference, eh?
-
Please re-read text ….. “STUDEBAKER Avantis”!
-
I’d recommend having them include photos of any used parts as well. This step may help you avoid a situation where you have to return unacceptable items and eat a 15% restocking fee. Also, nail down shipping costs. I paid about $60 to have some rusty parts shipped to me, but only $16 to have them returned. Maybe also ask the question “Would you put these parts on your car?”

Your rattle could be the vertical window channels that guide the windows on each end which may need replacing due to the felt being worn out. The outer weather strip at the top of the door is to prevent/reduce the amount of water that can enter the door from rain the inner to prevent the glass from rubbing on the inner door trim.

The reason I asked timeline is You could be inferring the 2001-07 models. Thus the AVX numbers.

You wouldn't happen to have the front armrest cores (both sides), by any chance.
-
Hi Pete, If you still need it I have an NOS right side headlight bucket. Roy
-
Jerry, do you still have them? I need the fronts (both sides) for a '63.
-
Thanks everyone. My car is a '63, but I would go with the '64 cores if I had to. My car isn't completely stock so it wouldn't matter. I was hoping to find a member that had the parts, thinking I might get a better price and at the same time help out a fellow member, but I'll reach out to Dan and John for prices and see where that goes.

Of the ten ‘EX’ prototype Studebaker Avantis which were built, only …..?….. remain. 1) three…..2) four……3) five…..or……4) seven
-
Thanks much. This is a huge help.
-
And, did the strip stop the rattle? It didn't on my car...

In your particular case, due to the year model and build location, John Hull should have the build sheet for your car. I know he charges for the information so you'll need to decide if you want to inquire about this with him. Also, a lot of the information that I put together came from John and Don Linder. The rest was done through research, which is ongoing also. -

Ernie.. I have an "02" and am pretty sure of the production numbers for that year.. 1 of 33, 1 of 15ish convertibles and 1 of 3 in the green color. Those numbers didn't come from John Hull... they came from ''ronmanfredi'' (who posted above). He's been trying to put together tallies and numbers on our '01-07' Models. What has frustrated me is IF this was a (say) '69 Camaro, I would be able to read the vin and get ALL info on the vehicle... Not true in our cars. To me, value is somewhat based on rarity and there is very little to go on. -
@SCPO-PD You're welcome; glad I could help! Sorry the parts in the pictures are kind of grimy - I did this installation 20 yrs and many miles ago. @Bobcat I hope your mechanic can get this puzzle solved for you. You will really like this once it's done. It really transforms the car at highway speeds and is the single greatest improvement I've done over the years. To get the full benefit of this conversion, make sure you have a method of engaging the torque converter lock-up clutch. There are a few different ways to achieve this and there are aftermarket devices available to perform this function.

Thank you! I have several lists of the production numbers, none of them align with one another, but one thing is certain, there were not many produced in 2005-2007 and the numbers of known to still exist is even less. . .I am a proud owner, I have wanted an Avanti since I was young, I remember walking down the street with my father, who was stationed at Beale Air Force Base, and asking, what is that. . .he said and I quote, "That is a Studebaker, it is their sports car, it is an Avanti-(having just returned from Italy) you know that means Forward. Those Studebakers have always been ahead of everyone! That last quote is one of the ones I hear the most about our cars. My Avanti is at the boat shop getting some work done on it. . .but it should be out next week. I love late winter in Alabama it feels like Summer in Michigan! -
Adam - MUCH THANKS for the pictures. I am getting ready to put my th700 back in and couldn't remember the connections -yes I forgot to take pictures.....
