You'll need the actual 17-digit VIN to determine the model year.  The Feds required the 17-digit VIN starting in 1981 on all vehicles...the RQ-B number simply became an internal car number.

Gunslinger is correct, you can use the Vin in Carfax to get quite a bit more data.

Mine is RQB-3651 and it is an 83. Nice wheels.

If you are referring to RBQ 3654, it is a 1983 made about mid-way through the production/regular coupes of that year prior to the 25 20th anniversary cars made at the end of the year.

We have RQB3614 which went down the production line approximately 02 of December 1982 -- the build sheet is a little blurred as to the actual day.;  however it dose document that the car was being built for display at the 1983 Chicago Auto Show.  She did not obtain legal registration until late in 1984 and was registered as a 1983 model year car. -- probably ran on manufacture's plates for some period of time,
