RoyG Posted February 17 Report Posted February 17 Working on getting the new interior installed now that the repainted body is back on the totally rebuilt chassis. I sent the four arm rests out to be reupholstered and the shop lost them! Trying to find both the front and back ones in decent condition. By "decent" I mean only needing new vinyl, not seriously water damaged or warped. Hoping one of the memers saved a set from a '64 that was parted out.
Dwight FitzSimons Posted February 17 Report Posted February 17 '63 or '64? AFAIK the rear arm rests are the same for both years, but the front arm rests are a little different on top. Perhaps, hopefully, either year could be used for your car. --Dwight
Gunslinger Posted February 18 Report Posted February 18 Contact Jon Myer at Myer’s Studebaker. He has a number of Avanti parts cars.
64StudebakerAvanti Posted February 18 Report Posted February 18 If you work with Meyer's, make sure you get price first. He was able to supply me with some rears, but since we did not discuss price ahead of time, I just about had a heart attack when I got the charge.

He has a habit of quoting one price and then when you get the invoice it's much higher (like heart attack higher), so I now pin down the price with all the sellers.

I purchased carb kit from SI last week… $69 in catalog…. $99 plus shipping upon arrival! Yes, always inquire current price.
RoyG Posted February 20 Author Report Posted February 20 Thanks everyone. My car is a '63, but I would go with the '64 cores if I had to. My car isn't completely stock so it wouldn't matter. I was hoping to find a member that had the parts, thinking I might get a better price and at the same time help out a fellow member, but I'll reach out to Dan and John for prices and see where that goes.
Bob Preston Posted February 21 Report Posted February 21 I’d recommend having them include photos of any used parts as well. This step may help you avoid a situation where you have to return unacceptable items and eat a 15% restocking fee. Also, nail down shipping costs. I paid about $60 to have some rusty parts shipped to me, but only $16 to have them returned. Maybe also ask the question “Would you put these parts on your car?”
