pantera928 Posted February 1, 2023 Report Posted February 1, 2023 I am trying to figure out the distance between the front of the hood and the front of the gun sight hood ornament. Can any of you help? Thanks
Dwight FitzSimons Posted February 1, 2023 Report Posted February 1, 2023 On my '64 Avanti the front edge of the ornament is 7 cm back from the front of the hood. I can't measure the distance from the pins to the front of the hood because the insulator covers them. --Dwight
mfg Posted February 1, 2023 Report Posted February 1, 2023 Just place the ornament where Dwight says, then draw small circles around pins from underneath.

Footer Posted February 2, 2023 Report Posted February 2, 2023 If you have the ornament, cut a cardboard side out of your Cheerio box. Carefully push the four pins through the cardboard. Now that your ornament is flush with the cardboard, trace around it and cut it so the cardboard matches the ornament. Now you can lay the cardboard on the hood, measure back the right distance, and mark the four poked holes with a felt pen through the cardboard. Pushnuts work. Mike

Great idea and simple. Now I just need to finish those Cheerios so I can use the box.🤣
pantera928 Posted February 2, 2023 Author Report Posted February 2, 2023 Well, cheerios for breakfast and lunch and I emptied the box. My wife had bought generic cheerios from Publix so I hope the box will still work.😆
Footer Posted February 3, 2023 Report Posted February 3, 2023 Should be fine if you are installing a repo chrome piece. If you have an original, better stick with the Cheerios! Good luck. Mike

pantera928 Posted February 7, 2023 Author Report Posted February 7, 2023 Got the cheerios finished and the holes made using the box. Thanks to all of you
