What item found in a 1963 Studebaker Avant's steering column seemed to have worn out faster than any other colum part?

Unless it's a tilt column, they don't have the lower bushing.

PS....Packard engine is overhauled and running nicely...I really didn't need the spare motor I purchased from French Lake.
