Ron Dame Posted August 19, 2022 Report Posted August 19, 2022 I just got RQB 3127 from Jon Myer. It's a nice car overall, but the brakes are awful, so will jump into those first. What should a 1980 have for front and rears so I can order parts?
Ron Dame Posted August 19, 2022 Author Report Posted August 19, 2022 Oh and besides the Studebaker Avanti manual, are there any other manuals available? I'll be calling Dan Booth today and see what he can help me with too.
Gunslinger Posted August 19, 2022 Report Posted August 19, 2022 That car should have the same front brakes as the Studebaker Avanti. I believe by the early '70s there was a change in rear brakes. The Studebaker Parts and Shop Manuals are about all that's available. Avanti Motors never put out anything to replace them.
Avanti83 Posted August 19, 2022 Report Posted August 19, 2022 Dan's the correct call. The fronts are the usual suspects from the 63/64 cars unless they have been upgraded to Turner or other aftermarket units but the rear are a combination of parts from later model non-Avanti cars. They could be Chrysler drums and Chevy C-10/Caprice shoes as an example. Also don't forget the master cylinder which could be the cause of most of your issues.
silverstude Posted August 19, 2022 Report Posted August 19, 2022 Here are a few notes https://studebaker-info.org/rjtechmay2021p1.html#80av
pantera928 Posted August 22, 2022 Report Posted August 22, 2022 I have RQB-3027 and it is a 1980 with the Turner upgrade. The originals are the same as the Studes had
