paul shuffleburg Posted August 17, 2022 Report Posted August 17, 2022 My 1963 R4499 air vents operate properly but no air comes thru them when moving. My question is where is the air intake and what could be blocking them?
iamrgh Posted August 17, 2022 Report Posted August 17, 2022 Methinks that no air movement is part of the original design (charm) of an Avanti. 😏 Mine don't flow much if any (63R 3062). Hot air from the engine bay is also a problem...try to seal the firewall openings.
64studeavanti Posted August 17, 2022 Report Posted August 17, 2022 The air comes in from the vent(s) at the top of the cowl. At each side vent, there is a door that is controlled by the cable. Check to be sure the doors are opening and closing correctly.
paul shuffleburg Posted August 22, 2022 Author Report Posted August 22, 2022 I installed Dyna Mat from the top of the fire wall too back under the front seats up the kick panels and the console. What a difference, I'm no longer driving around in an oven.

paul shuffleburg Posted August 24, 2022 Author Report Posted August 24, 2022 The vents are open. The main reason I installed the Dyna Mat was because no air was coming thru the vents. The vents on my 51 Commander and 62 Champ really help on a hot day.

Cram the exhaust hose of a shop vac into the cabin vents and follow the air flow. There's got to be an obstruction somewhere between point A and point B./
