  2. RQB3263/81   THANKS GUNSLINGER......I have done that and there are many many to choose from and cheap .....just need the oem bulb p/n  so I can order ....THANKS   and  HAPPY HOLIDAYS .... BILL in Fl

  3. RQB3263 .... I WILL go back to my original reply..... you may make it better  but the problem is inherent in the 1950s original design....for sure rebuild both the PS components.... mike myers in Duncan Falls Ohio did mine ...tighten everything up and  adjust alignment to Studebaker specs...and cruise with a smile cuz thats about as good as it gets ... see ya on the Boulevard ....BILL in Fl

  4. RQB3263/81/305   well beautiful job...it looks great .... I have aged out of projects this size ....  well 25 yrs ago for sure .and i am glad there are folks still carrying on the  hot rod tradition ... you have done a great job ...thanks for sharing ....BILL in Fl

  5. RQB3263/81/305   YES  great job... I love the hood scoop ...would solve many clearance problems .... Do you believe (is it possible) the Mustang  front suspension could be installed with the body on the frame ??  THANKS ....BILL in Fl

  6. RQB3263/81/305 ...I replaced my orig 65 amp with an 85 amp and then 2 yrs later with this 140 AMP  alternator pict here .... direct bolt in .... only needed to up size the large red primary wire to the positive on battery ...... It makes enough electrical power all electrical system upgrades I have made and will make in the future.... I believe it was $167 delivered.... ... BILL  in Fl

  7. RQB3263/81   ..ive been looking at JEGS online and yes they have many rear disc brake conversion kits .... I believe my 81 is standard with Dana 60 based on the 5 bolt backing plate gaskets in there catalog picture ...there are many .... has any one completed this with one of JEGS kits ??  If so please educate me and others here on which kit and the process and results.....thanks ....BILL

  8. RQB3263/81 ....I have done all this and more as have many other king pin Avanti owners ...while it may be "tighter" (what ever that is)  it still has the float and wander....

I too have installed the quick steer arms (easy job 10 min each side) do they help? yes geometrically they have to ...but because of the float and wander in the antique design  I still have to drive it every second..... it will be interesting to hear stories from other king pin Avanti drivers...i will be watching maybe some one will have a solution (affordable)

otherwise i will just keep on having fun as is... see you all on the boulevard.... BILL in Florida

  9. RQB3263/81/305  Welcome to the club.....yours and mine both have Stud Lark ring pin front suspensions.... this is 1950s technology.....mine floats and wanders constantly also .... it must be driven 100% of the time ....there will be no texting and driving in these cars ....I have tightened mine up and also had it tightened  by Mike Myers in Ohio ....highly recommended  but didnt fix it and I understand from others it is just inherent in the 70 year old design,  they all do it and we must live with it.....there are high dollar IRS systems available but big bucks and req frame off and probably eng out to install etc....  every little bit helps, adj. steer box, replace rag joint, and tighten bolts on A arms  and lotsa grease... keep  your hands on the wheel ,,, and ...  good  luck ...see ya on the boulevard.... BILL

  10. I spoke with Turner in Indy last year.....and his kit will not fit my 81.... something about the number of bolts  holding the backing plate etc  ....4 may work.... 5 will not ...i got 5... so for right now i am SOL with Turner....... SO KEEP IN Touch..... and Ill see you all on the boulevard....

  11. RQB3263/81/305 .... Inquiring if anyone has knowledge of or experience converting 81s to rear disc brakes ?? ... I do not want to change the entire rear end..  its winter time here in N Florida down to almost 65 and im bored...... discs in the rear would be a nice up grade... THANKS ....BILL

  12. RQB3263/81 ..... I will be watching this one as I would like to install discs on the rear of RQB3263 .... SO FAR i HAVE NOT FOUND A DIRECT BOLT IN REPLACMENT ....

I do not want to change the whole rear end and loose my 2.72 rear gear ......"see ya on the boulevard"

  13. RQB3263/81..... Well its been a loooong time but the electric pump should be mounted as close to the tank as practical and the filter can be mounted in a convenient  location  on the frame rail.... pic coming if I can find it..... I cant find the pic .... so I take another and post it later today .... of my GM fuel filter/shut off valve  installation next to but not attached to the frame rail just below the drivers door ...... later
