RQB3263...hOPE THIS HELPS...National carburetor..."King of Carburetors"...4 bbl is $159.95 with exchange....mine required one adjustment after install which we did over the phone just fine...904-636-9400....they also supplied the distributor for about $70...it all works great ....good luck ...RQB3263

RQB 3263....About a year ago I de-computerized my 81/305 exactly as described above...and highly recommend it....the replacement carb was about 170.00$.direct bolt on one wire hookup,,, and the HEI Vacuum distributor was $70...follow each of the wires back to there source and remove them and there associated box...I think mine all went in the trash...I also removed all the pollution control crap (about 50 lbs)< new mufflers and Add a Crane torque cam/lifter/valve spring set and double roller Cloyes timing chain set available anywhere for $25 and it will run like a new engine ...its easy to do ....good luck....bill rqb3263

RQB3263 ...I just ordered a cruise control system mfg by Rosta (mfg)....complete with signal generator and speedo cable extension (for 700r4 trans) (7 IN.)...in many systems the signal generator and accessories are at extra cost .....this was $280.00 complete....I hope...BILL

RQB3263.......I had the same problem on my 81...and was also unable to locate oem replacments....so i installed 2" round LED (9 LED per unit) while installing new interior....lights were $12.50 each on ebay or amazon..I also used the same lights in trunk and under hood both controlled by rocker switch...requires a 2 1/4 inch hole for black rubber grommet...works really well...far better than OEM....BILL

RQB3263.....THE HELLA h4 HAVE BEEN INSTALLED NOW FOR 3 WEEKS AND WORK JUST FINE ....NO CUTTING 5 MIN INSTALLATION....no heat problems although it is a relatively cool florida 48 degrees here ....way to go !! RQB3263 BILL

RQB3263,....I received and installed the Hella H4 headlight conversion kit (made in Germany) ....installation maybe 5 min. per bulb....direct fit perfect and designed so they will only install one way.....even i cant get it wrong....$128.00 pair....Amp draw the same or slightly less than the 60s vintage seal beams....then only normal adjustment ...all done ....have a Merry Christmas ...RQB3263.....BILL

RQB3263...I ordered a Hella 7" conversion set using H4 bulbs....$128 delivered monday or tuesday I hope and I replaced the headlight switch on the overhead panel..no relay yet but I guess that could be in the future...can you give me some more info on the relay, its installation, and wiring please ....THANKS ...BILL RQB3263

RQB3263....I may go the h4 route...10 or 11 amp draw will work fine as my 81 electrical system uses a 20 amp circuit breaker to control the healights...now I just need to find the best quality adapter bulb system ....THANKS ....BILL....RQB3263

RQB3263....RADIATOR OVERFLOW TANK CAP UPDATE.......previous post talks about how well a BMW p/s reservoir cap fit the Avanti II plastic overflow tank .....and it does fit very well...however....because of its thickness it contacts the inside of the hood with the hood down and latched.....so in short it doesnt work....ill be using the caps sent to me by our contributor ....THANK YOU VERY MUCH....BILL...RQB3263

RQB3263 Having received no difinative answers other than LED headlights are expensive...Im now investigating Halogen H4 conversions....There seems to be many more of this conversion in use ....anyone ever compare the amp draw and lumins (in high beam position) with standard incandescent old fashioned bulbs....and how about heat on my very expensive plastic covers ???...Im looking fwd to your replies ....BILL

RQB3263...Its a good day....BMW power steering reservoir cap fit just fine and the really good news is that I had one under the work bench for at least 5 years ....YAHOO ...I LOVE IT WHEN THAT HAPPENS...

RQB3263...THe CAP IS just thin stamped steel no pressure cap..(with holes rusted in it ) Nostalgic was my first choice as i have a credit on the books there ..no luck..the search continues .....BILL

I need the cap for the radiator plastic overflow tank on my 81/305 Avanti II ..What I have is most likely original and rusted out......there may be even a generic plastic screw on cap that by some miracle fits ..Parts suppliers want to sell the entire kit....no thanks ...call Bill 386 466-6434

RQB3263...You are aware that the 305 engines from factory had "soft" camshafts and lifters and plastic (actually nylon) timing gear......mine was A typical BAD...I had been warned here on the forum....I had 4 warnout lobes and 3 concave lifters...at 95k miles...I used Crane Cam because there close to me here in Fl. but there are a gillion SBC can mfg...RQB3263....BILL
