  3. RQB3263...will be out of commission for the foreseeable future..It will be delivered to Steven Cade (local Stude/Avanti guru) in Gainesville Fl to have the glass removed in prep for interior and custom body and paint...BMW 330 gray leather seats and belt install is complete and interior will be gray vinyl....exterior will be "Diamond Blue metallic" same as original after mild customizing body work...I hope to have it back by Thanksgiving....is that too much to ask ??.....RQB3263 BILL

  4. RQB3263 BILL...This week I hope to get the metal I need for the pax seat installation....To do this install properly I removed the "heat shield" from above the exhaust pipe that runs under the pax seat....It was a nasty 4 hr. job to say the least as it was installed before the body was put on the frame and none of the bolts had ever been out...difficult yes...impossible no...going back in may be another story...I will replace the fiberglass insulation with a piece of a/c fiberglass duct board...and mostly new bolts w/ clip nuts if I can...This had to be removed in order to gain access to the bottom of the floor board (fiberglass floor) under the car to install screws and nuts holding the new seat attach bracket (pic above)..You need nuts and washers on the fiberglass floor panel under the car....(two man job)...OK I also installed the BMW front seat belt retractors...with minor modifications will work fine......SO....FOR SALE: Driver and pax front seat belt retractor system both complete as removed from my 81 RQB3263...Black and in good condition...includes everything but the attack bolts...$75.00 + $10.00 shipping in lower 48...Call BILL 386-466-6434 Cell in Florida....Thanks

  5. RQB3263....Ive been running 2 (dual v-12 distributors) Crane Fireball Ign. systems on another creation of mine (Seagrave/Pierce Arrow V-12 ) for 4 years .....also "optical trigger"...same as Unilite.....never a minutes trouble ...havent opened them in 4 years...Crane makes them as a conversion kit that can be installed in most any dist.....If I can put it on a 1941 Seagrave 12 cyl...then a Stude should be doable ...Call Crane in Daytona....The kits were less than $100.00 each six yrs ago...(i needed 2 kits and picked them up in Daytona)...RQB3263 ....BILL

  6. RQB3263 i recently replaces the "electronic" quadrajet on my 81/305....I traced all the wires back and removed the "computer" and all other associated stuff...(not a big job).....and replaced it with a standard reman Quadrajet from here i Jacksonville fl..less than $200....the TV cable from my 700r4 trans hooked right up no special brackets to buy, only one e wire to hook up......BUT...did require a new HEI vacuum advance distributor...not a big deal either...got back to basics...works great !!!...BILL

  10. RQB3263....All (4) the new aluminum (.125 and .250 in) parts are finished and in the dishwasher to be primed and painted tomorrow...this is for drivers side only..the .250 plate for the pax seat base wont be in till Tuesday at the earliest...the point of making the floors flat would be to lower the seat....2" would help my installation of the BMW 330SI seats which are 2" higher (seat bottom) than the originals...Ill live with it ...to remove the floor humps nearly impossible with body on frame....I have 2 ...81 Avanti ii high back seats for sale decent shape...pair $200.00 386-466-6434 C....Also after careful study I believe my 81 will look better without bumpers...since the f glass around the bolt holed needs repair and restoring brackets and reinstalling bumpers will be more work than disappearing the the holes and protrusions....Its going to the paint shop soon anyway.....Im gonna leave them off...FOR SALE 81 Avanti front and rear bumpers with all brackets etc...good shape .."as removed"..$200 each...call Bill 386-466-6434 in Florida...later gator

  11. RQB3263....(1).Having just removed most of the original shag carpet from 3263 I now see the corrugations in the floor panels are much more extensive than just a raised rib under the front seat mount...making its removal and conversion to flat floor something that shouldn't be tried unless its a frame-off situation...(2) Front bumper removal...appears to only be possible by removing the 4 bolts that attach the bracket to the frame located behind the front wheels 2 on each side with nuts on the back..probably req an impact gun...you can remove all the other bolts you want the bumper aint commin off till you pull the 4 bolts in the back....(3) I may relocate the fog lights and mfg a new grill upon reassembly ...windows coming out soon then to interior shop then paint shop the interior shop then glass reinstall......my summer is shot....BILL RQB3263

  12. RQB3263........BOB THANKS FOR THE PICS HERE ......the more i measure the more it looks like I will fab my seat brackets to look much like yours...Cutting the hump out of the floor is still probably out of the q..(Ive been dreaming)....ill know more Monday when i get it stripped out and can take better measurements...but 4 pieces of 1/4 in. steel flat bar is beginning to make more sense for my installation....Ill call Wedge Engineering Monday but i doubt the will have anything i cant make ....keep in touch ...rqb3263 ....bill

  13. RQB3263....Well im back to thinking about removing the seat hump....Monday ill take out the orig seats and carpet and see what i got...the car will be down for several months for glass removal, interior and paint....More input please...BILL

  14. RQB3263...BILL GREGG 386-466-6434....Id like to hear about anyone s experience removing the floorboard hump under the driver/front pass. seat and converting it to a flat floor....Im considering this to make installation of BMW 330 COUPE seats a breeze....

Im sure someone has done it ...Im contemplating 1/4 in fiberglass plate or 1/4 in aluminum ....give me some ideas ....ill probably start cutting on Monday, july 20....BILL

  15. RQB3263.....I found some original paperwork (signed by Arnold Altman)....indicating the color is "Diamond Blue Metallic"....I also learned that much of the interior cannot be removed and recovered with the windshield, back window and quarter window...in place so I ordered up new seals (gaskets)...The BMW seats I ordered yesterday...Wednesday morning...arrived today ...gray leather and exceeded my expectations...Now I have to fab brackets (supports)...I hate to disassemble a perfectly good car but I dont see any other way...Ittl probably be down for 3 months.....RQB3263 ....BILL

  16. RQB 3263....Please check out the pic of my Avanti II on the registration page...What color is it (officially) ??...its been re-painted but appears to be the original color..BTW..I ordered a carpet kit from <autointeriors@xplornet.ca> they had what I needed on closeout $327.00 delivered not $806 i was quoted by others.....and I have gray leather BMW seats being delivered tomorrow (Thursday)..so I have a project !!! yahoo...RQB3263....BILL
