    RIP Jim Lange

How about a lil History... ?
  2. Agree with You both, since I'm not generally a purist. And as said, ""Love the Changes!"" As far as my '63' R2, however, ''I am'', and the only anticipated change is Turner Brakes which will show a dual master under the hood. Also Ron... I have seen the valuation go up substantially in Our '01-06' cars just in the last 1 1/2 years I've owned mine. I see the prices meet and exceed the Av1's and mores over the AV2's What really got me started on all Avanti's was when Alice Cooper did a Retro of His Av1... with a Ford Smallblock and suspension upgrades (amongst other changes) by Counts Custom (TV Show). It triggered a long held respect I've had for decades for these cars.
  3. I LOVE the changes as well, but I'm not a ''Purist'' and I welcome most tasteful Mods that are done on a personal automobile (or vehicle) . A "Purist" might take offense or even disgust with the things being done.. How do these things affect overall end $$$ value? Eye of the Beholder, I guess.
  4. Yeah, that would be good. I would love to know how many cars survived the last decades. We can get he production numbers but the actual numbers of survivors? Unknown So, My question was never addressed. ''So the numbers,....are we referring to 63-64's, or all, including Avanti 2's?.''

    Stude V8 Swap?

Point I was making is it being ''Natural" is not a way to describe it..Natural is back to a Chev SB. And I have to think the installation would fit but a lot of small stuff would need addressed.
  7. I thought that site was dead?

    Stude V8 Swap?

I question the ''Natural''. It's more like a confusion.

    Stude V8 Swap?

Good, because that was a real problem that I actually got stuck with. So why the question? Are You considering a 3rd swap?

    Stude V8 Swap?

Only issues I ever had was soft came on a 305. But if You've gone that far.. not a concern.

    Stude V8 Swap?

Wow... Impressive mileage MFG. I think You made a good choice, but many opted to go with the 350 for added power.
  12. So the numbers, are we referring to 63-64's, or all, including Avanti 2's?.

    Stude V8 Swap?

I have to say, that would be counter intuitive. The Chev SB engine comes in soooo many combinations whereas the Studie Avanti only had 2 options, and both based on the 289. To me, the Chev engine and its options are the superior choice.... to downgrade seems futile. to go. thru all the changes (motor mounts and multiple other changes) seems senseless. I say that and I currently own a stock '63' R2.... (but also a '02' model which is an LS1 based engine.)
  14. Agree, but it does play hard into the equation.
  15. Sorry, but I wouldn't let mine go for less than $55k, and am considering listing it for just over $60k. Ya got to understand that there are only 33 made in my year of '02', and similar production number for other years. That in itself sets these up for solid value (or profits) Then the convertible option in '02' brings production numbers down to 13 that year. So You can say what You will but if someone is trying to knock me down in price, my answer is "Go find another one!"
  16. I bought a copy of this book...Avanti, The Complete Story!... and have mixed emotions on the factoids presented. Understand I own a '63' and an '02 model. Fist off, the '63' '64' models it was sparse on photos of the Production Models. A lot of Prototype Pix;s but lacking on the actual Production cars. The written info was good but could have gone further. Then the 2001-7 info was also a little lax. I was hoping for actual production numbers regarding the '02' model. They had one page (the last page) dedicated to those numbers but it was broken down into a 2001 category and then skipped to the 2004 model... No mention or understanding of what happened between these years. Seems 53 models were made between '01' and '04' but it's not broken down as to how many per year. Didn't anyone take a tally of what was made and when? Seems this would be common practice and actually essential to Us as Collectors. I'm interested in Your feedback on the yearly production numbers and overall take on the Writings of this book..
