My 64 R2 had those strips, installed by the dealer where the car was sold. They were made for Mercedes-Benz and were made of metal fastened to the sides of the car, with rubber snubber inserts. I was never a fan of them but they worked well and were left on the car. Later when my Avanti II was being renovated, another kit was purchased, but never installed. It's still sitting in the garage...

Magnesium, once on fire will create its own oxygen and cannot be put out with water or the usual extinguisher. This was first found out in fires on early aircraft landing gear. Those new versions of the Halibrand design are sure to be all aluminum..

Should have 3/8" inlet/outlet

You might want to check the statements on the Hog Troughs. Quite enlightening.

I'll suppose we'll start talking about his one soon enough...

If you have the hood weather strip in place to cushion it, methinks the only way to set the depth is by trial an error (opening and closing it while adjusting the pin depth)

Yes and it has new ball joints... :-)

Production Avanti with many of the Granatelli "improvements". These pieces were sold by Granatelli to the owner of this car, but not without a lot of arm twisting.

I used to remove the dash endplate(s) and cut out what was hidden under it, leaving enough purchase for the fastening screws. I know it was a great help on the driver side regarding the gauges. I can't recall if the Pside was of any help...

Yes and anyone with an early Av II can look at the front bumper slots. They are filled in, in a like fashion...

Cut a what? why not just reach up under the dash. The Pside pivot is pretty accessible. It's the driver side that's bear to get to..

The outside pump was a tank mounted under the right fender with a 12V fuel pump (yes) moving the oil. I have pics if you want to see one. Interestingly, the Due Cento had oil coolers under the parking lights for each of the superchargers

Roughly;
66-69 Avanti II used Corvette 327/300 engines / 70 - 71 used the 350/300 (Corvette) engine, 72 - 77 used the 400 (non Corvette) engine - 78 -? used 350/? - somewhere around the early 80's the 305 engine came into play, both HO and standard version. The 305 was used extensively afterwards..

From my past experience, The control cable knob moves almost effortlessly, so they close with a slight interference, somewhat diagonally. Too much interference would pinch the rubber in the duct and make moving the knob tougher.

#9, the one in the SMN, still has the suspension & interior mods, so I'd say true
-
You could also mount the plate, using rings, on the lower core support. When you're stopped it will remain vertical. At speed it's tucked under the lower valence. Doesn't look too bad.

Probably Item #3, since the front suspension was modified for better handling at the Salt.

Ever check with Hagerty Insurance?

Didn't they make trucks there also?

The pull handle is located on the floor rise of the drivers side, passenger seat. It runs thru the rise and lays on the floor, goes under the rear panel, thru the gas tank compartment, then down to the trunk floor and is hidden under the carpet.
