It's RQB-1613... Long time Florida car..

Thanks, it has my interest. I've been through Clinton, SC once and it's definitley not a place you'd expect to see a car like this. It would be nice to have someone look it over. The seller has told me it doesn't have fuel injection however.

So from all the past reading, the conclusion is that the window regulators in a 73 Avanti have some differences over the 66-70 models. Does anyone have any pictures or know how/what changes were made?
thx

The ignition switch bezel has a large spring which is engaged to hold the switch fast to the dash. It may be missing or misaligned which will allow the switch the looseness you describe. Do NOT reconnect the battery until you put your nose under the dash and see what's amiss.. The wires for the ignition are exposed and can be shorted out, explaining the sparks. Worse yet would be if they weren't tightened up enough to isolate them from each other. Your point about the starter spinning while engine's running can be a reality if the wires are loose. It's been a while since my rememberences but it would seem likely that of the engine was running and the starter engaged, you'd hear the starter Bendix and the flywheel ring gear arguing...

From a former Avanti Owner...
/////. I have the original poster created by artist Tony Romeo for the November 1989 Grand Prix held in Palm Springs California. Tony was hired by J.J Cafaro to produce the poster which was the official poster for the race. I have a document signed by Tony to this affect. I also have a metal parking sign that states Avanti Parking only all other will be towed away. I am interested in selling both items////

Many thanks... I looked at the SI catalog, but couldn't make out the silouette

You can shave 3/16" off the mating surfaces of the airbox to achieve a 3/8" shorter height and it won't affect the operation. However after having done this, I'd say it was a pretty expensive way to achieve very little.....

Wonder if anyone here is bidding on this. It has a rusty frame, which isn't revealed on the Ebay writeup
