    ..............step-down Hudson.

After the Hudson, Bob Andrews was part of Bob Bourke's 1951-1952 Styling Team in South Bend and had a minor part in the 1953-1954 design for Studebaker.  .

Sorry no, the fluid entry point is located at the bottom of the cylinder and, as in most disc brake systems, the bleeder screw is at the top.....Answer..FALSE!

Again, I believe that we are hung up on semantics.

I agree with your quoted statement.  This would make the entry point face upward (into the lower point of the cylinder).

In a '63 Avanti disc brake system, the brake fluid entry point for the OUTER caliper piston cylinder faces upward......True?

I am trying to visualize this.  The crossover goes into a lower position on the cylinder, so I will say that the entry faces upward - True.

I remember this car being for sale about a year ago in Virginia. They said it was the Avanti eventually given to Roger Ward for winning the 1962 Indy 500. (He didn't get the actual 'honorary' pace Avanti, if I remember correctly he wanted an air conditioned car, but I may be wrong on that.) The Lark convertible was the 'actual' pace car for that race.

Only one correction.  I believe that his name was Rodger Ward.

The reason for this small difference must have been lower labor costs in Ohio than in South Bend....MFG was probably not associated with the United Auto Workers Union............Difference would have far exceeded $20.00 if all else were equal.

We are talking about strictly shipping cost differences (not labor).

A friend of mine has a problem with his 1984 Avanti - he says when the car is hot sometimes it will not start and sometimes for  twenty minutes-  then it will start right up _ mechanic cannot find the problem - could it be the starter itself? Fyi if you see the Avanti weather vane in the latest Avanti magazine that is his

    Thanks A83

When you say that "it will not start", does it crank over and not fire up or does it not crank over or not fast enough?   If it cranks over, I first thought of a coil.  If it doesn't crank over when hot, I would start with the starter.  This assumes that all of the wiring is good/adequate size and has clean connections.

    'Cute' defines as....'winning'.....'attractive'

I have no idea how you feel about the Avanti automobile Gary, but I see them as both winning AND attractive!

Indeed, 'Clyde' is an excellent nickname for an Avanti!!!!

I can see how you can apply winning and attractive to an Avanti.  However, you can not extrapolate this to apply to Clyde (that may also be winning and/or attractive).
